LV Hilton surprise guest...

Well now that it is over I can tell you, there was a surprise guest playing at the LV Hilton, not in the WSOB, but the World Blackjack Tour.

Who was it? None other than our very own "Reachy", representing England in this years event.

Reachy, it was a pleasure getting to meet you finally. Hope you had a good time over here and come back to see us again soon.

I thought it was a bit quiet around here, and since my own attempts to get into this event had failed, I put two and two together ...

Congratulations Reachy (regardless of where you finished). I hope you had a good time. Let us know what you thought of the expereince.

 

What is the "World Blackjack Tour"? I never heard of this before or did I miss something along the way?

Congrats to Reachy for making the event. Hope he's free to discuss the results.

What a relief

When a regular poster like Reachy suddenly becomes absent you start to feel the worse.

Unlike London Colin I had forgotten about the World Blackjack Tour and did not put two and two together.

Regardless of whatever the outcome of the results, well done Reachy for going over there and I can’t wait for the report.

Can I also take the opportunity to thank Txtourplayer.

Tex contacted (and encouraged) via pm, all the Brits and other overseas players from this site in December 2006 with information and contact details regarding the tournament.

I did not enter because I have long known my own limitations and did not want to appear on television with underpants like those illustrated by fgk42 on the wardrobe thread :laugh:

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm too tired to say much at the moment (plus I'm not sure what I can say at this point ) but what I can say is that I had an awesome time. It was fantastic to meet everybody (name checks later) and I can't wait to come out to Vegas again. Even in the short period I was there I learnt so much and I know that my game is going to improve from now on. Everybody was so friendly and nice and so happy to give advice and share your experiences with me. I love you all (not in THAT way !). (Oh, apart from the dealer Jessica, she was hot!!!)

I'm going to write up my experiences as an essay or magazine-type peice so it may take some time to get everything down. However when my body has resynced I will write a more comprehensive post and fill you all in.

I do need to say a big, massive thank you to txtourplayer who facilitated this trip. I'm indebted to you and can't wait to return the favour somehow in the near future. If you ever need a place to stay in the UK you know where to come. Plus I can get you into the Grovesnor Casino in Plymouth which I know you'll find as much of a culture shock as I did the casino's in Vegas!

On a final note, those of you who haven't played live TBJ are in for a shock when you do eventually play it; it's a different animal from the online version, completely different. Until you can accurately maintain running totals for all your opponents chip stacks in your head that is. My personal thoughts on this after the event are to develop the memory skills to add or subtract bets from the running totals rather than actually count the chips physically. I have an idea for a computer program to aid me in this endevour....

I'd better go now because everything is zooming in and out and it feels like I'm tripping!!!!!

perhaps Reachy is one of the "best players from his corner of the globe", although I have to throw Andy and Colin in the UK mix also. Reachy's desire and dedication to learn the nuances of TBJ in the past year is impressive to me and I think his selection/invitation is a well deserved reward.

My wife is a Russian citizen still (actually duel citizenship)....I could have had her up to that level of play in very short time too....she would have added talent, charm and beauty to the show....heck if someone is gonna get a free shot at some easy money it might as well be my family...but alas....another of lifes cruel little jokes prevails...waaaawaaaaawaaaaa

Im actually glad Reachy got a chance at his 15 minutes of fame....lets hope the show sells and that next next year Oksana the Terrible gets a shot...
