OK, you've heard the hype for months now... You've got to admit, this looks like the best damned thing to ever happen to blackjack.
    WOW!

Ken - It is Fantastic for BJ players but I have 2 queries

When you and I first talked about going to Aruba, we agreed we would have to take $5,000 extra to pay our way into BOTH UBT Championships. However, the schedule seems to indicate only 1 UBT Championship on Tues Sept. 26 (although there seems to be 2 final Championship tables on Fri Sept 29)?

More important query is the very big conflict that seems to exist between UBT Championship table #2 and the Poker Championship Day 3.

This could be a major problem for people (like me) who are willing to pay the airfare and room as long as we have a chance to play in 2 UBT finals and 1 poker final.

Whom do I contact at Ultimate bet to find out answers or can you PLEASE find out the answers. I am in the midst of making my plane reservations from NOLA on American for 9/23. (Which flight did you book?)

    Thanks for everything, Petie:cool:

Will all Tour stops follow a similar format?

Could I expect UBT France to have the same sort of tourney structure in terms of number of events, buy-ins, timetable, poker tourneys as Aruba?

    Cheers

If any one ever had a doubt about how serious UBT was in making 2006 the year of blackjack tournaments feast your eyes on this schedule.

Multiple blackjack tournaments all week long .There will be players able to play more tournaments in this week then some of us have been allowed to play in 1 year .

    Let the games begin :celebrate

Who needs narrow minded casino to host tournaments now. :joker:

I believe that both final tables may come from the same preliminary rounds. In other words, a single event will produce two final tables, and two champions. I could be wrong, but that sounds kind of familiar from a conversation I had a while back with someone involved.

If that's the case, then there's no conflict... They'll schedule the finalists as needed if they also make the poker final table.

I'm on AA flight 880 at 6 AM (Gulp!)

    Between...

the Cruise and Aruba I hope some money comes home with you all! Never thought of blackjack tournaments as a rich persons game. What is the bankroll for the next 2 months, 20 grand? LOL

Here comes my ignorance so bear with me.

These "other" BJ tourney's listed in red. There are outside of the main 2500 UBT tourney - got that one figured out. However, single table vs. 21 seat - I'm not sure what that is?

Is it like gloabl where a single table - 120 entry feel with just the 6 people competing against them selves? Sit n go? The 21 seat is that 3 tables of 7 in a multi-tourney like the Wednesday tourney at Global?

I know it may seem silly and basic but hey I don't know

That's it. However, I bet the single table matches will have 7 players as well.
A winner of a $120 match would win enough to pay for entry in one of the $500 events or the $500 satellites for the big event.

Don't be rediculous my English friend. You should know by know that the French will manage to tweak and tangle it into an ungodly mess by then! For example at a French sit-n-go 70% of the entry fees go to the local government and the remaining winnings go to the winner or some other socialistic take on it. :joker:

  14. Freeroll

Anyone here have a guess on how many people will qualify for that UB freeroll? Winning a $2,500 seat to the BJ event for 100 people looks like a really big perk and probably makes it worth trying to win your way into the poker event first.

Well Mr. Smith, I am in. So now I need help

First, I am on your flight at 6AM, Sept 23 from NOLA.

Second, since I know nothing about elimination BJ, I need a complete set of rules.

Third, is there any CURRENTLY AVAILABLE online or live place to play such tournaments.

Fourth, if not, when do you expect the UBT site to actually start having on-line tournaments.

Thanks for all your help and support.

PS I was in LVA offices a few days ago and noticed Eininger's book on clearance for $2. When I commented about finally getting them off the shelves, the clerk told me that they were being cleared out to make room for his "Revised and Updated 2nd edition". You may want to start carrying that on your info site.

    Response to Kevin Blackwood's thoughts

    Kevin,
I agree however after correspondence with Ultimate Bet poker site, I realize that it is a mistake if you already booked like Ken Smith and I have done; because as of now, there will only be $10,000 packages available as satellite prizes, no "Aruba Seat Only" as was played last Fri. I sent the following message to Ultimate Bet. If you agree, all of you should send similar messages and just maybe they will put some Aruba Seat Only satellites back on the schedule.

    "ARUBA CLASSIC
When Ultimate Bet combined the Poker and the UBT, I assume it was to get more players to come to Aruba. There are several of my friends who are coming to play the UBT mainly and maybe some of the satellites for the poker events. There are also many of us who want to play both. However, to assure reasonably priced airfare and hotel, we have had to book in advance. I do not know which are your "hotel arrangements made outside of the available hotels accommodations provided by us to our winners," but I assume many of the less expensive places are not yours.
THEREFORE YOU HAVE TAKEN MANY OF US OUT OF YOUR ONLINE ARUBA CLASSIC SATELLITES BECAUSE WE WOULD BE PLAYING FOR $5800 (the championshipp fee plus $600 airfare reimbursement) BUT PAYING ENTRIES ON A $10000 PRIZE. CLEARLY YOU HAVE COST YOUR SITE ALL THOSE ADDITIONAL ONLINE FEES WHICH SUPPORT YOUR OVERHEAD.[For example, I alone accounted for almost $3000 in FEES on Party Poker attempting to get a seat in the WSOP championship.} But hey, what is $3000 to you guys. Good Luck. See you in Aruba."

Sometimes they actually listen-Read email from Ultimate Bet

:D Here is a copy of the email I just received. Let's make the seat this Fri nite. Good Luck all.

    Peter,

We now have $5200 seat only events on Fridays to assist players who may already have made their reservations in Aruba and are looking for just the buy in to the poker event and we are also looking at adding $5200 sit and goes to the schedule for those people who would rather not play at a scheduled time.

Winners in the $5200 online events will still be eligible to play in the UBT freeroll we are having in Aruba to feed 100 players into the UBT main event.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions.

    Best Regards,

    Hector Orozco

Nice work Tinker! Looks like the squeaky wheel theory works after all. Looks like I'll have to dust off my poker hat and try these out.

    1) Great! Nice to have company on the flight.
    2) There's not a complete set of published rules out there yet, but there is this brief overview:
    http://www.playubt.com/overview.pdf
3 & 4) No, not yet. It's bound to be soon though... a couple of weeks maybe?

    UB Responses

I guess it is a money issue with the response rate. I sent them an email moments after Ken first posted the events....I simply asked them to clarify the vague statement regarding the freeroll event in Aruba. It is for the UB on-line qualifiers, where the top 100 get into the BJ event, but it doesn't state whether it is a poker or BJ tournament. It stated that emails would be answered in less than 24 hours....oh well
