Mr. Ken (Lucky) Smith: Waiting for you to share with our friends on this Forum the great news you personally shared with me while we were visiting at the Golden Nugget this past weekend! Good seeing you as usual Ken, and my CONGRATULATIONS!! Skipper :celebrate
Ok, Me too! I'm waiting to hear ANY great news. Randy and I were coming over to the GN this past weekend, but plans changed at the last minute.
I'm going to guess... If I'm right, just send me $100. Ken probably found the very last Caribbean Stud Game in Vegas and played for 8 straight hours until the royal flush hit. You did this years ago and it was a great story. tim
I Understand.... Ken: As per our conversation, I completely understand! Can't wait for you to share the news. Skipper :celebrate
And the news is.... Many of you are already familiar with one particular casino where I've been unusually lucky over the years. I wrote a BJ Insider article about my "Home Field Advantage" recently. For those who aren't familiar, let me do a quick recap. At the Isle Casino in Biloxi, back in the 90s they held blackjack tournaments three times a year with a $10,000 first place. The preliminary round had 1 of 7 advancing (with two rebuys usually available). The semifinals were 1 of 5 advance and the final table had 7 players. In one particular stretch of events, I won an amazing first place in five out of seven consecutive tournaments. During that stretch, I also made a sixth final table, finishing in third place. Needless to say I was sorry to see those events being cancelled eventually. Just last year I headed back there for a small invitational event and took first place for $5000, reminding me of the Good Ol' Days. How appropriate then that I chose to attend a special event at the Isle this New Years Eve. An exclusive car drawing, where I estimate there were 80 to 100 tickets in the drum. At 11 PM New Years Eve, they drew 12 names from the drum. I was all set to hit the door when my name was called as the 12th of the 12. Each of us drew a key from a bucket, and in order called tried our keys in a lock box. I had actually lost count of how many keys had been tried before I had my shot, and I'm still not sure whether I was the 11th or 12th attempt. Regardless, my key opened the lockbox. Inside were the keys to a 2009 Mercedes C300. It was a fantastic finish to a great 2008. :celebrate Now, what free car would be complete without an ostentatious license plate? Mine came from the All-In cover.
Bravo Couldn't happen to a nicer person. I have an idea you're not a real superstitious person but this casino might turn you into one! Billy C
Classy finish for classy player Ken, what a wonderfull and deserved finish to 2008 . Congrats!!! May this car drive you to many more wins in 2009 and beyond. S. Yama
Congratulations Ken. That is an awesome way to begin the new year. Now that I know what to look for, I will blow the horn if you come flying by me on Hwy 49 heading back down to the Isle. I hold fond memories for the Isle also. Their ballroom is where my initial Wheel of Fortune audition took place and got me on the path to the show.
That's great news, Ken! You were very kind and patient with me and my 1,000 questions when I was just starting out, and have certainly been the same for others. What goes 'round, comes 'round - you earned & deserve this gorgeous prize. Congratulations!!!!!
wtg Ken Hope this strategy continues to work for you thoughout the new year. Good things happen to good people. tgun
Wow! Ken, As many other members have already said, they echo my first thought: WOW! This couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Congratultions! And may the winnings keep on coming your way! - Ted
Great Home Casino! Wish we had one like it near! Congratulations! I especially like the license plate!
