tournament style is that a live money or funny money tournament?any more info on the format?also it looks like there is a 25,000 add is that constant or progressive depending on number of players?
Casinogirl68 is the expert, but I think I can handle these questions, since I've played in almost every one of their events... You noticed the $25K added. That's been a constant in every tournament. It's always been $25K regardless of number of players. This is a funny money event, and the structure is unusual. The first two rounds are non-elimination, or accumulative style. You'll be given $1000 in each round, and your total score at the end of the round will be noted. Your score for the first day is the sum of your two rounds. The scores are ranked, and the top 35 players advance into the semifinals. Semifinalists are guaranteed $500 in prize money, so at that point it's a freeroll. The unfortunate soul in spot 36 gets a consolation prize, his $500 back, though he doesn't get to play in the semifinals. There are drawings into the semifinals, and into the finals. Once you reach the semifinals, the tournament reverts to the traditional table-advance style. You'll be competing against only your table, with one player advancing into the finals. This tournament format is obviously convenient for the casino, because they can accomodate a large number of players without having to change the structure at all. Some players hate accumulative rounds, and I can sympathize. I don't enjoy those rounds nearly as much, but I do believe that I have a large advantage in those events, because many players just don't bet aggressively enough to give themselves a chance to advance. Of course, many players think I bet TOO aggressively. If you've seen me play at Bally's you might agree! One of my favorite stories from that tournament is when I went all-in on hand one (as usual), and drew a pair of Aces. Being unable to split, I hit twice, and busted with two face cards. There went my two 21s! It's no secret that I'm a big fan of this tournament, although I've never made the finals. Bally's does an outstanding job of running it, and believe me, they've had a few interesting situations they've had to handle over the years. They get an A+ from me every time. Also, they do a great job of spreading the wealth. If you make the final table, you'll win a lot of money. Unlike some events that are way top-heavy, look at this payout from the event earlier this year: $65K / $25K / $18K / $14K / $9K / $7K / $5K

I can't make it. Regrettably, I'm going to have to cancel my plans to play this tournament this weekend. Other obligations prevent my attendance. Good luck to all who participate. Could somebody please report back the number of players, and what it took to advance to the semifinals? Thanks, -Ken-
So, did anyone here attend? What was the attendance number and the semifinal cutoff amount? Thanks, -Ken- P.S. Who won it?
Miss-hap I drove to Biloxi and played at the Beau rather than flying into Memphis and playing at Tunica. Bad choice ! The Grand, Beau Rivage, and Imperial Palace never heard of surrender in tournaments, but I did learn about "string betting" the hard way. I got my hat handed to me in the first round at the Beau when a couple of locals went max on the first 3 hands and were rewarded with BJs and sucessful splits and doubles. I did manage to eek out a second place at an Imperial Palace mini so I ended up in the black for the trip until just 40 miles from home when the Florida Highway Patrol claimed I had exceded the sound barrier. Lot of players in Biloxi are pullimg for you in the WSOB finals next week. Hope all the rumors I heard are true. Anyone have the final table results from Bally's and Beau Rivage ? IG
Tunica Tunica April 16-18, 2004. Attendance 221. 35th score 5510. My score double 0, 0... but who cares... Hard working stuff and good food - thank you in order. Some controversy with adding scores... but at list poor guy who did not know that he was eliminated received $500... I think $1,000 should be more proper. Drawing for wild card was too early (8:45 am). Games: poor and if you would like to give casino some action, there was no room at the tables... too few of them. I managed to take few C notes from casino at super 21 with spread 1-12 and not heat.
Sixth Place at Bally's I managed a sixth place finish at Bally's Sunday. After scoring 0 in round one, I was the player with 5510 for 35th place. I was BR1 going into the last hand of the finals. I had only a $30 lead, so I bet $990. I was dealt a pair of aces without enough bankroll to split. I hit three times to a 17, lost the hand to a dealer 18, while four other players had better than 18. I was also beaten by BR2 who took the low with a $5 bet.
Wow, that's a tough fall, from potential first place to sixth. Well, congrats on making the finals, but I'm sure you're still wishing you had better cards at the end.
From Rudi Schiffer's "Heard on the River": BALLY'S $150,000 ULTLMATE BLACKJACK TOURNAMENT was won by CHARLES JOHNSON of O'Fallon, MO. He took home $60,000. Also, note these: GOLDSTRIKE'S $100,000 Blackjack Tournament is set for May 14-15 with a $50,000 first place prize. Call 1-877-245-8477 to enter. In August Goldstrike is holding its $100,000 MISSISSIPPI CRAPS CHAMPIONSHIP and in September it comes with a $100,000 slot tournament.
Bally's Tunica in September? I haven't heard anything about the Bally's Tunica event that is typically held in September. Anyone have any news?
Bally's Tunica 24-26 September The September tournament at Bally's Tunica is 24-26 September. They are taking registrations now.
That's unfortunately a conflict with the September LVH qualifier which I was hoping to play. Now I'll have to pick. Thanks for the info Moses.
The Sky is Falling! The Tunica Harrah's and Bally's are up for sale! http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040831/BIZ/408310332/1005 I hope this does not put our beloved Bally's tournament at risk! Sentry
Interesting. The company mentioned as a possible purchaser is Colony Capital LLC, the same group that now owns the Las Vegas Hilton. Nice find, Sentry.
