With the lack of deposits from players I have decide to cancel the Jan. 9th, 2010 Blackjack Cruise. I have discussed this with Tammy (Themom82) and I think between the current economy and fear of swine flu the chances of us getting enough players to make this event worth it was not good enough to keep trying.

I wanted to make sure that it was canceled in more then enough time to avoid and out of pocket expenses to the players and give them plenty of time to get their deposits back (100% back).

If and when the economy starts getting better we may try another cruise until then I'll be focusing on land base casinos to host the TBJPA blackjack tournaments.

I think that was the best decision for this cruise. Let the economy recover, and give it another try later. Thanks for your efforts.

    regrets

Too bad! I was looking forward to it. Maybe down the road will be better?

Locally (Everett, WA), the Iron Horse Casino abruptly closed their doors for good. I'm in mourning... they were hosting (5) BJ tournaments weekly.
$30/$25 guaranteed $2100 plus a couple of smaller Spanish 21 and Pai Gow
tourneys on the weekends. Tournament attendance was about the only thing keeping them afloat. The tournaments pretty much paid for themselves - the house got some live play out of us. Maybe we won too often?!

Besides suffering from some lousy management, they just couldn't compete with the tribal joints with all their slot machines. The lousy economy sure didn't help much either.

Several other card rooms have closed. Our once juicy tournament scene now looks rather bleak. There are still a few decent gigs around.

Reliable source says, the former Iron Horse Everett will reopen this spring as a Hooters. Sounds good - especially if they bring back tournaments. They could call it Tournament Ta-Ta or Busty Blackjack - what do you think?

Regrets on the cruise cancellation. I know Tammy put some time in trying to get it off the ground.

    Sorry to hear this

Wow this is a surprise Rick, but I can understand. I guess one benefit is I will get my deposit back and the money I set aside for the cruise can now go towards playing some more local tournaments in Tunica (unless Debbie gets her hands on that money first) LOL. Thanks for all the hard work, we look forward to going again when things improve.
