    OK Blackjack and $1 mil

Today for the quarterly tournament at Comanche Nation I finished 21st to qualified for the $1 mil tournament in Dec. There was 256 entries. Everybody who has played in one of the quarterlies this year will probably get to play again like last year. 1st place today was $72000, 2nd $45000, down to 24th for $200.

    Comanche Nation Casino

For every suited BJ on Monday or Wednesday you get your name in a pot. 56 names to be drawn to play for $5900. Drawing and tournament Nov 28. The play list for the $1mil tournament is already up. 240 players here and 360 at Red River. They said this time they had too many over 600 to let everybody play, I don't know how they picked the names, but all the regulars are their. Just at Comanche Nation there was about 60 players that were no shows, last year. Many people may have moved or just couldn't make it.

    Red River Casino

The Red River Tuesday tournament has turned for the worst I think. To keep up with their next door competition (Kiowa Casino) they started offering rebuys for $20. The Kiowa has one sometimes two rebuys, but at the Red River you can rebuy thru the 15th hand as long as you have no chips left. Last night when I played $23 buy in, 6 per table, 100 starting chips, and three advance. Dealer was beating us hand after hand. One guy bust out on the second hand rebuys bust out leaves. Other three guys rebuy 5 times. Me and another guy rebuy once bust out and leave. I think they just payed their way to advance, large wades of cash in their pockets. What would be the best strategy here ? I only won one out of 15 hands.

    Re-buy if it makes sense...

It all depends on what the prize pool is and how much cash you have (and willing to spend).

If by spending the re-buys you are assured to make more money then you spend, Yes I would keep on re-buying. But if it is just to advance to another round, and you still are not playing for the prize money yet, you have to draw the line somewhere.

As a local, you can come back each week, so does it make sense for you to chase for a lot of money, NO! However for someone that traveled to the tourament, it might be worth it for them to risk a few more re-buys.

    clarification, please

Per Kyle P $100 buy in, what does this refer to?
Am I correct in thinking that if I did not participate in a quarterly tournament there is no way to enter the $1 million tourney?

You are correct. You had to participate in a quarterly tournament to play in the million dollar tournament.

The $100 optional buy in allows you to get 500 extra chips at the beginning of each first round. There are two first rounds, so really it is a $200 add on for 1000 in extra chips.

    $1mil

Last year I played at Comanche Nation and there was many people who didn't pay the $100 the first time to see how well they would do. Then Pay the $100 if they needed it the second day. The $100 is optional and you can pay between $1-100 for 5 credits per $1. It mattered what some people had in their pockets at the time. Last year some people got into the $1mil tournament without costing them anything. By playing the freerolls (you have to be playing at the tables now to play the freerolls) they earned points then played a quarterly (not paying the $50 add on) and qualified for the $1mil. At Comanche Nation last year, to advance the accumulation round all you needed was 1600. Red River was higher around 2000. As you can see if you could hold onto your chips you could advance. My first round, all I could do was hold onto my chips to advance 1900. My wife 2600.

I am playing at Red River, where I have found the players to be a bit more "aggressive". I expect to see lots of max betting from the start. I won't be doing that, but that is just the typical behavior that I expect to see.

I will be there and more than likely will buy the addition chips.

I finished day 1 with 1030 in chips. I ended up doing the $100 add on for the extra 500 in chips.

It seems that a lot of being are going with the keep your chips strategy. I expected more aggressive betting.

    Hope the trend continues.

How did things go in Lawton?

    $1mil

Me and my wife play tonight. I was thinking the people that played last year would play a little safer this year. There was so many busting out to nothing and you only needed a total of 1600 to advance. My first two tables I was glad I was minimum betting. The dealer was hot and three players at my table busted out. I'll report back after we play tonight.

Last night at Red River, I watched all the rounds. I only saw one table where only one person showed up. The guy didn't do the $100 add on and lost all his chips. He ended with zero.

    chip count

what is your thinking that the 2 day chip count (min.) will have to be to make the 300 cut?

My total 1090, wife 770, and son 1190 (won his table and $100). Last year at Comanche Nation the low to make it to the next round was 1600. Like you said people are watching their chips more cautiously, to make it too the next round. This will probably raise the minimum requirements. Haven't heard of any big winners.
