Ft Sill Apache is having another tournament. This time it's a $250000 tournament. But instead of 5 hours to qualify you need 20. You got 3 months to qualify. Check out the website to see all the particulars. www.ftsillapachecasino.com go to the bottom of the page Future Plans. Maybe we'll see more of you here this time. BJBeauty, DRBass, and Hopinglarry made it to last month's $100000 tournament.
Casino Loses The last couple of days card counters have taken quite a bit of money from the players pool. 3 told to leave Tuesday and 6 Wednesday that took $150000. I hope all these loses don't change the $250000 tournament. The casino's new promotion Push 22 has attracted a lot of players. Be warned they are watching table play closely now. I know everybody likes to make money, but you're attracting a lot of attention.
"Card Counters"? Heh, I don't think so. So, they change the rules, then kick people out for just playing the game? If they don't want to give away money, perhaps they should hire someone who finished high school to make their marketing decisions.
In case my earlier message wasn't clear, the point here is that ANYONE playing this game will beat it. Even a player who doesn't know basic strategy will win money if they play this game long enough. Card counting would be a complete waste of time. Just sit down and play. Apparently that's not allowed unless you're one of the designated locals.
Ft Sill Apache I'm posting here instead of the updates to response to Rick. There is no hotel on site yet, but several within a mile. I'm wondering if they will get the 336 entries. The past tournaments at Comanche Nation with $200000 tournaments use to have entries like this. I personally don't mind outside competition, but I also rather play against 100 instead of 336. The prize money is already there and the casino has to give it away. So it is of no interest or benefit to attract outside players. Obviously they want locals to win, than see the money leave. As I posted here before, an entry fee of $100 was too much for locals and didn't go over well. I do think some casinos are keeping more than they should and like before might mess it up for the rest. For locals these are a great chance to win some money for very little. And it makes for a fun time to see and talk with all the familar faces.
Ft Sill Apache Casino The first round of accumulation started Monday (Nov 30). Had 264 out of a possible 336 sign up. First week only had 223 show up to play. Highest chip count 6200 and 168th 658. A whole lot of crazy playing. Players not use to accumulation format. Players start with 500 and with an optional $60 get 1000 more chips. Keep your chips and you should be fine. Anybody else playing in this? Me and hopinglarry so far.
First half of first round results Thanks for results of the first half of the first round. It confirms my strategy for round one, i.e., conservative play should get you through to round two. From what I saw, it looked like an average of two players per table were busting out. Of course they get a second shot and anything can happen. My guess is that something like $3000 total chip count after both rounds will get you into the second round where you hit the reset button and get more aggressive. What's your opinion?
FT Sill Before the tournament started I thought it would take more than 3000 to qualify, but once I found out there were only 260+ entries, I decided that it would be a lot less than 3000. I decided to be as conservative as you can get and just bet the minimum every hand. I ended up with 1485. I saw 4 other people doing the same thing ending up with 1475 to 1500. I saw a lot of people going to 0. I will be doing the same thing on Tuesday when I play again. The only way I would bet more than the minumum is if I sit at a table where the dealer is hot and I would have a chance to win the table with not too big a bet toward the last hand. Basically, 70 percent of the field is going forward. With only 223 people playing I believe that 2200 total will make the top 168. If I were one of those people that went for it in the first round and ended up with 2400 and up, I would not even buy the extra chips. Larry
Ft Sill With only 223 players, I agree with your $2,200 threshold. I had originally estimated $3,000 based on a 270 figure I was told had registered. I would also guess some number of the first half players will be no shows for the second half. I played the same minimum bet strategy as you, except everytime I was last to bet I bet $100. I just couldn't resist making a few bigger bets. I lost three and won one of those bets and ended up with $1,300. I'll try to curb the urge next round and go for somewhere around $2,800 total.
Chip total With the 168th place person with only 650 I think it will be below 2000. We'll see by this Friday.
Below $2K? That figure works for me, now all we need is for enough players to cooperate. Maybe the temptation of $50 and glory for winning the table will do the trick. I don't play until Thursday, so if you play before then, let us know any observations you'd like to share.
Ft Sill Apache Casino So far it has been about the same. People still busting out. I played tonight. No big change in chip counts.
Latest from Ft. Sill Thanks for the update. So based on your experience last night, are you sticking with your $2K threshold to qualify for the second round?
Ft Sill Apache Casino I think 2000 will be fine. On Monday the same people showed up plus a few that didn't last week.
Cutoff for 2nd rnd I played tonight and ended with $2,865 total for both first rounds. Saw plenty of players bust out or end with virtually nothing. I was told by the casino staff to call Friday or Saturday to find out the cutoff for advancing to the second round. As soon as someone gets the info, I'm sure posting it would be appreciated by all.
Cutoff for 2nd round Wow, if I had thought it was going to be that low, I would have tried to win a table on the last hand. I wasn't willing to bet $600 on the last hand (which is what I would need to cover high), because I might get a pair that needed to be split and would have to risk 1200. Larry
