    Screwed up

They're are so many people and places holding poker tournaments in Texas and over 90% of them haven't a clue what they are doing and then they wonder why they get closed down.

The Local TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) works with the local Police and District Attorneys office. I guess the pub didn't okay with everyone what was going on at their pub. When ever I hold or host a tournament I Cover my ass by going to everyone and all the way to the state level letting them know what I'm doing.

This entire mess with tournaments in Texas is about to come to a head. Either the state is going to set guide lines for the tournaments or one hell of a dicremination suit is going to be filed against them. It is almost funny how stupid some of the DA's and police are over what is legal and illegal as far as gambling and tournaments are concerned.

The Texas Bar (Dallas) Assocation just held their 2nd CASH hold'em tournament with several judges playing as well, but were they closed down? Phil Helimuth just held his poker tournament in Dallas last month with a $500 entire fee and no problems. The December issue of "D" magizine just posted about poker games in Dallas between a multi-billionaire and others at a local strip club with no problems. The local Chamber of Commerce just held their yearly Las Vegas Night and run tournaments for Slots and Poker with no problems.

What is so funny about the above mentioned tournaments and events is that they were all illegal! Yet nothing is done about them, WHY? I have been hosting tournaments for over four years and have never been arrested for them and I tell them when and where I am holding them before hand.

The State Attorney General lets each county District Attorneys office handle the gambling issue in their own county, but with several differant ruling about the tournaments I think it is time they get involved.

After talking to several attorneys, Judges and a ex-State Senator they don't want to push the gambling issue in Texas or they will lose if taken to the Surpreme Count. Most people hosting these tournaments know nothing about the law only that other people are doing them so they want to run them as well (IDIOTS).

If they knew what they were doing they could avoid any problems. Even those that know the state laws on gambling don't realize that giving WSOP seats away at their tournament can be wrong if not given permission by Harrah's entertainment first. Forms have to be filled out and approved to avoid trademark violation.

    Doubt I will!

With only four more months to qualify for the Hilton MD III I don't have any thing planned.

I am working on getting the cruise tournaments going. We will hold some during cruise, if the tournament is still around and or if a new casino allows us to do so if the Hilton stops hosting them. Lot of "IF's" in there...LOL.
