Well....Played at the BJ Finals tourney at Pearl River Resort. Why does it seem that more times than not I get beat by the mean drunk on the table ) And this guy truly was..... he was cursing the dealer everytime he got a card he did not want.Maybe I should take up drinking. At the end of hand 19 they did a count and after 19 hands of masterful play I was exactly at 5000..which is where I started but still was BR 2. BR 1 was 8100 ....hand 20 I bet 500 and won the hand to go to 6000 and on hand 21 I bet 2500 and got a DD chance and hit it to go to 11000 and become BR1.Well things went down from there on the next few hands BR2 caught up and every time I tried to go over him when he bet first I would lose and he would win. On hand 25 I was 8500 and he was 13500. He bet 2000 and I made a max bet of 2500 knowing that he was too far out of reach for one bet.Dealers up card is a 7 . When I looked at my cards I had a pair of 6's and he stayed on his 18.I split the pair and hit the first one to an 8 and doubled down . I then hit the other six and drew a 9 for 15 but knowing that I had to keep the bet alive I left it at 15. the dealer flipped a 17 and I won my double down and lost the other hand he won his with an 18 and went to 15500. If the dealer had busted I would have beaten him by 500. I got the dealer to show me after the hand that her next card was a 10 so would have lost if I had hit too.Woulda Coulda Shoulda. ) The guy that beat me advanced to the final six with only 3 winning money. My friend Dave Spain edged him out for 3rd with his classic play betting low until last 5 hands and then making max bets . He beat the guy by $8 and the guy cussed him and the dealer and anyone else in ear shot or so I was told I was having a fine meal at the Bonsai Resturant. It was great to meet you JACKBLACK! Hope to see you at more tourneys in the future.
Thanks for the recap. It sounds like you had a good shot of making the finals. At least your nemesis was edged out of the money!
Thanks Ken I never wish anyone ill but I can't understand anyone being abusive to the dealers in these or any table games. We are the only ones playing the cards they just pull'em and pitch'em. Maybe I will get to meet you at the Beau Rivage Tournament.
