    Well what do you know, I am starting to get players calling asking how they can play in the tournaments. The nice thing is they are already booked on the cruise, just not through us.

    No problem any passenger on board may play just the tournament fee is a little higher if booked through another agency. Instead of $80 fee for the four tournaments through Jim Thomas at Point Loma Travel there will be a $160 fee to off-set the lost of credit towards the dealers cabins.

    As of now I personally am paying the difference out of my own pocket for any extra cost on the dealers cabins.

    Onboard advertising

    Rick,

    Have you checked with the cruise line to see if they will let you advertise the tournaments? Every ship has a daily newsletter that they put in all the cabins which everyone reads from cover to cover because it tells all the events and times for all the activities of the day. It would be nice if they would give you space in the letter to advertise. Since we will be playing on days at sea, there might be a lot of interest from people on the boat who didn't know about the tournament going on when they booked.

    With over 1000 people on the ship (not counting the crew) there are bound to be some people who would love to play. The only drawback might be we would be competing with the ship casino for action which they might not like.

    No reply back!

    Pat I have asked them several times and so far I have not got a reply back. I want to list on the ship schedule of events and I too am sure that with all the passengers that we could get upwards to 25 or more players with no problem from the over 2,000 I am told the ship already has booked.

    Players booked through Jim Thomas

    I booked a cabin through Point Loma travel and was under the impression the entry fee was $320 per tournament. This last post indicates it is $320 for all FOUR tournaments, which is great news if I am reading this correctly. Do the players who have booked through Point Loma have to do anything to sign up or do we do that when we get on board? Sorry to be so naive about this, but it is my first tournament other than the Hilton Million Dollar Finals. I got very lucky to qualify and am now addicted to tournament blackjack... :)

    I believe it is still $320 for each of the tournaments. Actually, I think that Rick is looking at a single $80 fee to participate, then $300 entry for each of the tournaments. That takes care of all the non-returned money up front, simplifying bookeeping. I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong.

    Thanks Ken

    Yes Ken is correct.

    I will be posting a complete set of rules and schedule of events within the next couple of weeks.

    What I know for sure is that we (Texas Tournaments) will be holding a cocktail party and registration the first night Oct. 31st. At that time all players will pay their $80 fee for all the tournaments and their $300 entry for the first tournament.

    Those who wish to pay for multiple entries for the tournaments are more then welcome too.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Here is a quick breakdown of the entry fees, Re-Buy's, and tournament fee's.

    Tournament Fee's

    Tournament fee of $80 (covers all four tournaments) must be paid proir to collecting entry fees.

    Any player not signed up through Point Loma Travel (Jim Thomas), the tournament fee will be $180 (covers all four tournaments) or $50 per individual tournament.

    Entry Fee's

    $300 will be the entry fee per tournament.

    $150 for the re-buy's,guaranteed two re-buy's will be offered (min.) per player if wanted.

    NOTE: All entries and Re-buy's must be made in cash since I will be paying 100% of the entries and re-buy's back in cash.

    The Prize breakdown is as follows: Based on if we have 12 or 18 in the semifinals.

    12 in semi's

    1st = 42 %
    2nd = 21 %
    3rd = 13 %
    4th = 9 %
    5th = 5.5 %
    6th = 3.5 %
    7th - 12th = 6 % (1% for each semifinalist)
    --------------------------------------------
    18 in semi's

    1st = 40 %
    2nd = 20 %
    3rd = 12 %
    4th = 8 %
    5th = 5 %
    6th = 3 %
    7th - 18th = 12% (1 % for each semifinalist)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Depending on re-buys if looks like each event will have 4 rounds.

    2) Two players will advance from each table (including re-buy tables) all the way to the finals. That is minimum of 2 advance.

    3) Wild cards will only be drawn as needed to fill up an equal number of players per tables.

    4) All prize money will be paid in full after the end of each tournament.

    5) Based on the number of players we currently have each tournament should be over within 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 hours and then we will all have the rest of the day to enjoy the cruise.

    6) If you wish to play Sit & Go events then you are welcome to use the tables and I am bringing an extra set of chips just for the S&G events. Players for these tournaments will be reponsible for taking care of the dealers, normally $10 - $20 bucks per tounament is about right. An easy way is just have the winner tip the dealer out of there winnings, but have the amount set prior to the start.

    Thanks for clarification

    I knew what I was reading was too good to be true, this makes more sense for the size of the prize money! See you at the cocktail party on 10/31!
