I've never played this monthly and wondered what time I would need to show up to sign up/play?

Tim: First prelim begins at 6:00pm. I'd think 5:00pm for registration at main casino cage would be good. Take registration slip to check in table in tourney pit. Distance to cage from tourney area may make it difficult for a round two rebuy, but should be able to make round three, if that's necessary. Previous post of mine has tourney details. I hope to make it, but with my inconsistent schedule I won't know till that day. Hope to se you there. Good Fortune.

Did anyone go to this last week and happen to know the payoffs?

I went, but I don't know. I lost in quarters. Fish won it in July and 1st was $2,000.

Did anyone happen to go to this tournament Thursday? I know the last one was poorly attended, just curious.

I attended the BJT at Firekeepers. Last month they had 47 players. This month they only had 42 players. $75 buy in for $1,000 in chips. $5 dealer toke for another $500. A Prize pool of $3,150. This fell into the 37 - 72 player category and only paid 5 positions even though their were 6 at the final table. Payouts were 40, 26, 16, 10 and 8%. They do not Promote the tournament. The Tournament Director Jay Patterson left before the Craps Tournament on Nov. 7th and went somewhere else. That tournament was sold out because they promoted it. They had a lady named Amy run this tournament. She was very, very inefficient. We started at 6pm and finished at 11:30. Unfortunately, in my opinion this tournament will not survive. :(

    That isn't good at all.......

It's too bad they don't have anyone who lives near their location & knows a thing or two about BJT's and tournament promotions in general. Damn shame.

Aloha LeftNut. Wolverine here. FYI, my wife Joanne and I live less than 5 miles from Firekeepers. We have played in several BJT at Firekeepers. Usually we are up to date on Blackjack and Crap tournaments scheduled at FKC. I get emails and text messages from Jay, or a host about upcoming events. I am really bummed out if Jay is not at Firekeepers any longer. Hope was just taking time off, and is still there. We left Michigan in early December, and do not know of any up coming events. Currently we are in Vegas for a month staying at Palms Place. Will not return to Firekeepers until early March. If any one knows of blackjack and craps events in Vegas for February and early March, we would greatly appreciate knowing about them. There is very little happening right now. Only finding weekly events at the small off strip casinos. Wolverine.

LeftNut, just looked at the tournament schedule and noticed the March 5th event at Firekeepers. We would have been back in Battle Creek March 2nd, but won't return until March 8th, due to my wife having back surgery in Vegas. That will be a tough one to miss, seeing it is only a 5 minute drive from my house. Wasn't ment to be I guess. Good luck to everyone that will be there.

Best wishes to your wife Wolverine!

I wanted to clarify something that may be turning people off on these Firekeepers tournaments. For the Saturday tournament, there are not 13 people on the final table, per their rules. (There are 13 people in the semi)

Also, all of the prizes for final table positions are cash, not part cash/part promo.

    - There are two tables of four in the semi and one table of 5 (with the 5th being the wild card)
It stinks to be at the one with 5 for an obvious 10% reduction in odds.
    - Two from each of the semifinal tables go to the final. (The losers in the semi, get a one play promo bet, that's the only promo)(Luckily, I won mine in January. I lost in the semi when I was rushed into a bad bet.). It was discussed a bit and they are now giving reasonable time on last hands.)
    - All & all a good tournament with a newly guaranteed 1st place of $10,000.

The Thursday tournaments have been poorly attended, but I hope all of us in Michigan will rally around and attend the larger tournaments such as the one this coming Saturday as well as the 3rd Thursday tourneys.

It was pretty full and they guaranteed the whole $18,000 for the 3/5 event. Things are definitely improving at Firekeepers tournaments.

The 3rd Thursday's are weak, but getting gradual improvements in attendance. I encourage folks to attend and help these tournaments grow.

Thanks, Tim! Sounds like the bigger one on the 5th went over pretty well.

Personally, I'd be tickled to attend the Thursday versions but work interferes badly. Damn.
