Other than Blackjack21, UBT, Bet21, and ultimatebet, where can I play online BJ tournaments? I'm not in US.

    Bummer

These are definitely hard to find.
Anybody else know of a trustworthy site for online tournaments.?

There is gameaccount.com if you like the head to head format.

    english harbor and europacasino.com

Thanks zweeky. I'll check it out.

What can anybody tell me about europacasino.com and englishharbour.com?

These are 2 I ran into while searching. europacasino.com seems to have multiple skins and it seems to have the head to head format.

My main thing is getting paid out and having a fair site that won't put in their own super players to take my money.

    Good Luck...

Good luck to you abog. Just continue to be extremely careful where you invest your time and money, as far as online tournaments are concerned.

Skip and I may disagree vehemently on many BJT-related subjects, but this isn't one of those. Be very, very careful out there. I honestly think there are more shyster sites than honest ones, and refuse to play online.
    Two of my own experiences:

Blackjack.Com - Came to this forum heavily touting their daily freerolls for money. Turns out they refused to pay off unless you jumped through a trainload of hidden eligibility hoops, including depositing your own money before they'd pay. They also allowed absent players to win. Bad business.

Bet21.Com - Refused to pay me for months even though the huge majority of my account was my own seed money. With the help and advice of a few of our BJT.com friends here, I managed to sneak around them and get paid.
In addition, some pretty darn smart people here are convinced that the BJT dealing is rigged.

Since you're not a U.S. citizen, your options are much more numerous than ours. Seek the sage advice of some of the non-U.S. folks here (London Colin comes to mind, there are others). Good luck. You're gonna need it.

If you are interested in accumulation-style tournaments, as well as elimination, then there are probably a number to be found. Littlewoods and William Hill used to run them; they used the same software, but their tournaments were separate, I think. Littlewoods has recently changed software, though.

Having taken a very cursory look, I don't think Europa Casino and English Harbour offer tournaments, as such. It looks like they just have bonus offers for the players that wager the most in a given period. [Having looked again, I've found tournaments at English Harbour. I haven't checked, but I get the impression they are accumulation.]

As for elimination-style, GameAccount is the only site I have any real experience with that does not allow US players. A number of bigger names also offer access to its tournaments, so going through one of them might give you more confidence. E.g., -
    • Coral/Eurobet/Gala
    • William Hill
    • Sportingbet
    • Paddypower
    • Blue Square

    I've recently discovered a couple more elimination-style offerings -

    Party Casino / ITV Casino

This doesn't look very good. $3 and $6 Sit-n-Gos are available. I only looked at it briefly; I think I worked out that the rake was about 25%!

It's 10 or 15 hands, 2-5 players, and beyond that I can't really remember the details.

    Microgaming Casinos

I only discovered this yesterday. I tried it on 32red. It appears to be also available on ladbrokescasino. I assume it is available on most/all that use Microgaming software. (Which raises the question of whether US citizens can play. I read somewhere that Microgaming sites are not accepting new US customers, but some have retained their existing customers. I don't know if that's accurate.)

The game itself seems to have some potential, but there are a couple of issues -
    • The underlying blackjack game is 'European Blackjack', which only allows doubling on 9,10,11. I didn't discover whether doubling for less, and all the other tournament niceties are available, but I suspect not.
    • You get even less time to act than at blackjack21, and the user interface is even more fiddly. Entering your bet is like trying to tune in a radio to the right station!
There are, however, some eerily familiar features -
    • Secret bet
    • Face-down DD card
    • Elimination hands
The scheduled tournaments are hybrids. The first round is 10 hands. The lowest BR at the table is eliminated after hand 5, but ultimately its the top 14 BRs in the entire tournament that advance to round 2. Round 2 and the final are elimination-style.

The Sit-n-Gos are 15 or 20 hands, with three elimination hands along the way.

I played in a scheduled freeroll, which had its full compliment of 250 players. Then I managed to play two five-player Sit-n-Gos. But that was all; the tables were essentially empty.

    Hey BP

I asked the same and Delta Duke gave a sound reply. Thought it was in this thread. But don't see it now. Suffice. Delta thought it a good deal with reasonable cash out.

    Hey BP Update

Found deltaduke reply under "ClubUBT payouts low" Run a search on blackjack21.com for some old discussion on that site or a confused similiar site. One of which most folks didn't like.

    An update on Blackjack.Com:

Those geniuses sent me an email saying that they are setting up different sites for U.S. players, as opposed to players from everywhere else. Remember, these are the clowns who came here offering freeroll BJT's and then refused to pay off without making the player jump through hoops "ad nauseum". Sent them en email to that effect and received no reply. Of course!

    Hi, I'm new here.

I'm playing BJ tournaments at Ultimate bet. Their software crashes now and then. After being sent from post to pillar by the tech support they eventually refunded the buy-in (three times now) in tournament dollars which you can only use in Poker tournaments.
Does anybody know a reliable site where I can play elimination as well as accumulation tournaments (open for European players)?

    Hello,

No new sites have appeared in 2009.

We are still limited to the few sites mentionned in this thread except blackjack.com who does not offer tournaments anymore.

There are several people here who still play regularly at UB, which is the actual site for which Bet21 is a skin.

Since this originally was discussed, much has happened. The massive UB poker cheating scandal broke, and the software has supposedly been redeveloped from scratch.

Perhaps some of our members who play there regularly can weigh in with their opinion on how the new incarnation seems. Whether to play there or not I suppose has ethical questions as well, given the site's blemished history.

    UB Play

Are UB Elimination BJ Tournaments rigged? Well, bottom line for me, is that I have made money playing them. Given the extremely small amount I initially deposited over 3 1/2 years ago, the amount of profit I have withdrawn is pretty nice. And UB has always paid honestly and quickly when I have requested a withdrawal.

I tracked my play for an extended period of time recently, where I played only the one table SnGs, range was $5 to $30 SnGs, and I managed a 35% return on investment, on close to 500 SnGs. That seems pretty typical for me. I seriously doubt that I am such a great TBJ player that I could do that if the games were rigged.

Does that mean that the game probabilities are 'normal'; I can't say that, I have had my doubts at times, but if you play enough tables, you'll see some very odd results and sequences, just due to random variance. So I would suggest that a reasonably skilled player can play on UB with an expectation of winning money over the long term. And since I can do it, I would go further and suggest that you don't even need to be all that skilled.

So I wouldn't hesitate to play on UltimateBet, if you are looking for a place to play TBJ on-line. UB also has reasonable fees for withdrawals, only $8 for a check by mail, so you are not getting stuck with big costs to put your money in or take profit out, like with some other sites. UB does accept USA players.

Glad to hear you're doing well there, RK. Love to read about our forum members doing well in BJT's, be they live or otherwise.

The "rigged" conclusion came after I personally experienced a run of 50-some BJT hands and won exactly two of those. Someone with a better math brain than mine figured out that the odds of that are in the neighborhood of 1.5 trillion to one. Trillion! Sure, with the variance associated with any game involving playing cards, anything can happen, but to paraphrase Stanford Wong when he addressed the matter of someone claiming to have been dealt three consecutive straight flushes in 3-card poker - "In other words, it cannot happen." When I'd had enough of that and tried to withdraw my balance, it took months to get my cash and it was finally accomplished when I did an end run around them by buying a prepaid credit card to make a deposit then withdrawing the entire balance. This was despite the fact that the account was first seeded with my own money, but they demanded another deposit before they'd pay off.

Obviously RK is enjoying an entirely different experience and I'm glad to hear it. Perhaps all the brouhaha over the poker cheating scandal there forced them to clean up their act. I hope so.
