Since many may not put "OK" in one of the state selections when searching for Blackjack Tournaments at this site this event should be noted or else maybe go unnoticed.

This Blackjack Tournament was just posted at the Tournaments tab on this site last week. Take a look - I think you'll like what you see.

It's in Oklahoma and since it is a fairly large state that may sound further away than it really is. Miami, OK is in extreme Northeast Oklahoma, about 35 miles Southwest of Joplin, MO. Really good cash Blackjack Tournaments are becoming increasingly hard to find in this part of the world and this one looks to be a good one. This is a small Casino that is full of very friendly and hospitable folks. They seem to have the resources to sponsor events of this size, and in talking with the table games director she plans to have 3 to 4 events a year and if successful I expect to see even larger cash pots in the future. This table games director is not new to the industry. She worked for one of the most well known names in Casino gaming for over 20 years before settling with her family in Northeast, OK. In fact, some who have played Las Vegas and Tunica over the past two plus decades may recognize her when you show up at registration for this event.

One important note: NO ANTE REQUIRED to play the live Blackjack tables at this Casino. It's a widely held belief that all Oklahoma Casinos require an Ante to play Blackjack. At this Casino, all you have to do to play without an Ante is have a Players Club card, which is free at the Players Club in the Casino.

I hope to see many of you in Miami (pronounced MI-AM-AH), OK several times a year!

And vice versa, I guess :)

Welllll. Pitchman. This is something that you proffered sometime ago. I guess it has been gestating. Actual tournament dates, payouts, other rules would be helpful rather than happening upon them in a serendipitously 700 mile drive to play the only non-ante blackjack tables in OK. By the way, for me, Oklahoma IS OK.

ps: found the listing in tournament events. Took a bit not knowing search range. Still lacking info.

We can probably find answers to your questions. What additional info is required?
As I understand it, there are something like 13 casinos in NE OK with the no ante situation.

  5. My Name is Cindy Courtney and am the Director of Table Games for Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK. We are very excited about our event and I believe most people will be happy with our format. I have 30 years in the Table Games with almost 20 of that working for Jack Binion and the Horseshoe in Vegas and in Tunica. We are located about 25 miles west of Joplin, MO off Interstate 44. We offer no ante on all our tables games 24/7 with a Player's Club card. We offer Double Deck with the most liberal rules in the part of the state, six deck shoe with 21+3 and Lucky Lucky side bets, Ultimate Texas Hold Em, Face-Up 3 card poker and No Commission Fortune 7 Baccarat. We have a hotel on site and three dining options.

Our tournament event is scheduled for July 18th and 19th. The format is outlined in our posting on this site. If you have additional questions or would like an emailed copy of the tournament rules as well as a general outline, you can email me at cindy.courtney@buffalorun.com. I look forward to hearing for you!!

Keep it up Cindy! Build it and they will come. We've recently had several Midwest tournaments cancelled or diminished to such a degree, they may as well have been.
I will definitely make an attempt to make your tournaments moving forward.

I fully agree, Tim. We need to start talking about possible car pooling for some of these upcoming events.

  13. At the very least, I hope to make this tournament a twice a year event. I would love to have enough participation to hold it quarterly!

Billy C and Tim: Here's a thought. Coordinate renting a motor home. Pick up point at a Northwest Indiana South shore station, or airport bus stop, where parking is free. Is centrally located for Wisconsin, Ill, IN and Mich folks and then is a direct shot. Plus, I didn't see Cindy say there were room comps.

  17. We have room rates for tournament players but they are limited quantity.

Limited availability: On site hotel room – block of 20 at a rate of $65 per night (regular $91). Buffalo Run Hotel 918-542-2900

Limited availability: Holiday Inn – block of 15 rooms at a rate of $109 per night (regular 109). Holiday Inn 918-542-7424

Of course, live table play can also get the rooms comped on the back end, depending on play.

  18. We are getting closer to the tournament date! There is definitely a lot of interest and we hope to have a good turnout for our first tournament!

I hope to see some of you here!!

Hi Billy. Yes, it is nice seeing Cindy's enthusiasm. If more table games managers would follow her example we might not be in such a Blackjack Tournament drought. I've played in some of her smaller tournaments and I can tell you she, and her staff are as pleasant and enthusiastic during the event. I know it's a long trip but we'd love to see you guys from up in your neck of the woods make it down to Oklahoma.
