Quick question for anyone who plays the game. Do u think playing limit or no limit hold em is the best place to start. For learning the game I would think that limit keeps your loses down, but no limit has a lot more to learn in terms of bluffing etc. People tend to play pretty crazy when there is not much money at stake like in limit. I don't know just something I was contemplating.

Pokernut surely is more able to answer. However there are dilemmas in both.
A 2-4 or 3-6 limit game to some is the same as show down. Therefore your 2 or 3 bet raises don't mean anything to them. And they hit out on you. But at least you have the satisfaction of knowing you played the hand properly, factoring card and pot odds, and only guessing at the knowledge and reactions of your opponent(s).

Even 1-2 no limit could get you caught if you're not paying attention. A hefty bankroll build up could dwindle in one hand if you're not reading an opponent properly. Or you get heady or carried away with a "rush".

With an adequate bankroll try both and see if you prefer one or the other. Then, scouting a game is as important as scouting a BJ game.

You answered it as well as I could, we call 2-4, 3-6, 4-8 limit games no foldem holdem, bluffing won't work you have to have the hand and people will go to the river chasing straights and flushes since it cheap to do so. But it is a good place to learn the game, remember one thing in low limit holdem suited connectors are a better starting hand than pocket pair. When you start playing 1-2 no limit buy in for the smallest amount the house will let you (probably $50 or $100) this way it is easier to limit your loses. And don't chase straights and flushes in no limit it can get expensive quickly. As your play gets better increase your buy-in as this allows you to win more money when you catch a good hand.

So I was thinking of playing no limit the next time I hit the casino. I was there yesterday, but kinda lost my nerve and started in a 4/8 limit game. I bought in for 100 and slowly watched it dwindle down to 40. At this point most of the players at the table, who just happened to come to this table becuz the no limit game broke up, asked if we wanted to switch to no limit. I was already losing and figured it would just get worse, but said what the heck. I bought in for another 100, after my initial 100 was down to 10. Long story short I left the table with 500. Then went to another casino with intentions of playing in there no limit tournament. It was an hour till the tournament and all they had were limit games so I bought in for a hundred and watched it dwindle down to 20. I took that 20 as buy in and played in the no limit tournament and took second for 375. So all that said I think I'm gonna stick with no limit. I just don't understand y I would be more successful in one versus the other.

I would recommend to play both limit and no-limit games. You can learn a lot by comparing the two different types. You have to adjust your strategy to the type of hold em and so it's good to see how things work in both. I prefer no-limit because it offers you more options (bluffing, all-in push, ...) but being a good limit player can't hurt either.
