Anyone have any information on if the Niagara Fallsview Casino is going to host another Masters of Blackjack series this year?

Ken - was anything talked about it when you attended the finals?

I checked out thier website and did not see anything about it.

    Thanks,
    Dan

I'm not sure about Fallsview's plans for next year. Perhaps BJFAN4 can enlighten us somewhat. In the meantime, there is another similar Canadian series in Quebec. Check out Casino de Charlevoix, Casino de Montreal and Casino du Lac-Leamy for the Blackjack Masters Tour.

You can start at our Casino List and click on Quebec.

    Canadian BJ tournaments Canada East

Hi Kenneth: the schedule for the Fallsview Casino Canadian Masters has not been announced as yet. Expected to begin in June.
The Quebec Masters Tour had its debut on April 10 at Lac Leamy Casino (near Ottawa Ontario) and was sold out. The event was exceptionally well organized. The entry fee included a special rate at the 5 Star Hilton and 3 free meals on the day of the tournament.
English brochures and registration are available by phoning 1-866-927-9277.
The next $50,000 event will be held in Montreal on June 5 and special hotel rates are available for out of town visitors by phoning Julie Côté at 1-866-203-1159.
In case you are wondering, staff of all Quebec casinos are fully bilingual and their "customer centrics" skills are amazing. :) :) :)

After a little nudge to my memory, I now recall discussion at the Fallsview event of hopes to increase the prize pool for next year. Nothing official yet apparently, but it seems likely that this event will be back, and even better.

FWIW, my first experience at a Canadian tournament was wonderful. The event offered good value, it was well-run, and the people there were all very nice to deal with.

After another excellent final event, it's time to start asking about a new series of events at Niagara Fallsview.

The Fallsview website has no mention yet of a 2007-2008 series. Any idea if and when this will be out BJFan4?

    Canadian BJT scene

I am currently in Lac Leamy competing in the Quebec Masters circuit initial qualifying tournament for the 2007/2008 series. Met up with a couple of BJTers, Archie and ZWeeky. The Final table format is now low BR elimination after 7 hands, after 13 hands, after 18 hands and 22 hands depending on the number of players left at the table. With 2 players left, the Final table turns into a 5 hands heads-up competition. Very exciting to watch.
Reliable sources indicate that Fallsview Niagara will kick off their version of the Canadian Masters on May 25 and June 22. Apparently the format and prize structure will be the same as last year. Will report more details when I get back home.:) :) :)

BJFAN4 updated the Event Calendar a while back with the dates he mentioned:
    https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/oldtourn/viewtourn.php?infoID=729

However, today I got this message via email from a member here:
I've just updated the listing and removed the probably inaccurate dates.
Once we resolve the issue, we should post an entire new event in the listings.

    Canadian BJT scene, continued.

Details of the first 2007/08 Niagara Fallsview qualifying BJT for May are a little bit sketchy but the new date is Wednesday May 30 2007 and the new entry fee is $250. The casino's VIP services are now accepting payments for registration.

It's $250 cad. It is unclear if the prize money has been increased or if the number of participants has been decreased.

    Hi Ken,
I was looking at older Canadien posts and I was wondering if there are any Masters series alive? I know Fallsview stopped theirs, just wondering if there are any out there anywhere. LV Hilton used to have something similar as well.

I'm not aware of any, but I haven't manually checked any websites for tournament listings lately. I recommend visiting some of the Canadian casino websites, available from the Casino List.

Unfortunately, the Canadian Masters series in Quebec and the Masters of Blackjack at the Fallsview in Ontario ended several years ago. The Fallsview Blackjack 21 tournament and the tournaments at The Great Blue Heron are the only major Canadian tournaments of which I am aware. The Quebec casinos still hold smaller events, but you must qualify via table play in the month leading up to the events, however. there are no events coming up.

I keep the event calendar here up to date with Ontario and Quebec events. The next Blackjack 21 at Fallsview will be Jan 21, 2015.

Are Fallsview and Heron still the only major BJ tourns in Canada thess days? If so, kindly post dates, EF, and info, thanks.

All of the tournaments at the Great Blue Heron are no more. They ended abruptly when the new management (Great Canadian Gaming) took over.

Fallsview is now also under new management (Mohegan Sun) and they have been messing with the scheduled events ever since. They cancelled one and moved two others to different dates. There is one event currently (re)scheduled for Jan 31, 2020, which is the last event of the current season (March 2019 to Jan 2020). It is on the calendar:

    https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/tournaments/blackjack-21-tournament.1235/

I would normally be there but, unfortunately, I will be traveling on that date.

Usually they announce the dates for the next season at the January event. I am hoping that they do continue this long running event. I will update the calendar if/when that announcement is made.
