Caution in chat/play in UB TBJ tournaments/games

In the beta testing run today, on UB, for their new TBJ schedule ... more than one player chatted that they were going to donk off chips, as they had already qualified for the final tournament, and wanted to give others a better chance to qualify. More than one other player chatted back, 'thanks'.

Please be ultra careful about this type of thing. It is called collusion, and can result in your being banned from play on UB and having the money in your account confiscated. Hopefully UB won't jump on anyone, as this was a free entry beta test, but in the poker games and tournaments, players are banned and have their accounts confiscated for exactly this behavior. You can not play in such a fashion as to advantage another player, nor can you play to 'transfer' chips to another player, etc. Any chat to that effect can be considered collusion, and even a simple 'thank you' from the benefiting player can make them guilty of collusion as well.

The players who did this, I am sure, were just trying to be nice, and it was a no entry fee tournament, they probably figured 'nothing to lose'. But that nice could have some very bad consequences. Even if you don't chat about it, an obviously bad play, causing you to lose chips by taking a ridiculous and unneeded risk, can be considered collusion. Just the chat alone can be collusion, even if no obvious play results.

As an aside, players who won multiple final tourney entries received Event Dollars for their second, third, fourth qualifications. Event dollars can be used to enter other UB events, in place of cash, so have real value.

Please be careful with your chat and play.

    Rick (and Hollywood),

My later tables had this same thing happen (there were THREE of us qualified with 2 'no show' players and 2 other live players IIRC)...First one killed himself than said he did it because he was qualified and the system refused to let him unregister.

Second guy chimed in and killed himself on the next hand.

I did similarly before the 5th hand was played to kill the two 'no shows'. (I did not check to see if the no shows were on the final table.)

This is a flaw in the design for 'beta-testing' a tourney or SAT tourney. While I think the goal was to capture as many possible 'ties' to see how the system would break it for seat assignments for the final round or whatever they were checking, the fact that one could not actually play two final round seats if by chance they did really play all four SATS and won more than one seat.

This is actually something to consider for LIVE action as well, and I hope Hollywood sees this thread. If someone is crazy enough to pre-reg all the SATS for a tourney and qualifies on the first SAT, the system should be smart enough to AUTOMATICALLY unregister the player from the other SATS and not count on the player to track all his/her entries.

Just my 'event planner' and 'admin assistant' hat being worn here...I'm all about using tech to simplify the world when at all possible.

    Event Dollars

Actually on UB, if you qualify multiple times for the same tournament, you win tournament dollars or event dollars, which you can use, same as cash, for entry to other tournaments. So you get full value for your win. They didn't need to do that in this beta test, but did. Everyone who qualified more than once got event dollars for it.

Issue wasn't the set up or tourney format - UB just wanted to try out their software - just warning people that by chatting about this, and doing this, they are risking the ability to play on UB, and, UB can take their accounts. Any form of collusion is grounds for UB to close your account and keep the money in it. It is considered a form of cheating, and rightly so. In this instance, I think anyone who decided to donk off and let another player through was well intentioned, and trying to be kind and make the game more interesting. But UB does monitor chat and play, looking for precisely this type of thing. Just want people to be aware that this type of play isn't innocent in the eyes of UB.
