Greetings--I recently retired to Washington and have started visiting a local casino. They have a weekly tournament--a hybrid, I've learned to call it--and not knowing how different tournaments are from standard blackjack, I innocently sat down to try it. It adds another level of strategy and I love it! I've played in five tournaments so far, and have made it to the final table each time, but so far have only one third place finish. I've read Wong's book and have started reading the back threads on this forum, and realize I have a huge amount to learn. I don't know if I'll have anything of value to contribute (other than questions) but am already grateful for the insights that many of you have generously shared. I look forward to joining a great forum!
Welcome to you and to your anticipated questions! Blackjack tournament play is an ongoing learning process for all of us here, so don't be shy. There many experienced players here who can help you.
I may add. Nothing equals playing experience. Play as much as you can. Beats to death all that you will read. Basic knowledge is great. It's a foundation. But making the right decisions in the heat of battle takes practice and real time exposure.
