Congratulations to Blair Rodman who took 2nd place at the Reno Hilton in a WPT event. Blair made over $300K for his efforts. No wonder why he plays more poker then BJ tournaments.

    Way to go Blair!

And you wonder why i play more poker than blackjack?

Look for his book on poker tourney play, due out this June from Anthony Curtis' Huntington Press. Should hopefully do for no-limit tournaments what Doyle Brunson's Super/System did for poker cash games!

    Problem Solved

I was wondering when you were finally going to realize that Blackjack Tournaments were something you were not cut out for.So the question I have is I know the number of Blackjack Tournaments you have won,is the Poker Tournament results the same also.

  5. Blair's TV appearance

Blair's WPT final table show is sheduled to air this Wednesday (June 22nd) on the Travel Channel.

As many of you know, Blair Rodman was a long time highly successful player on the blackjack tournament circuit. He started out when Anthony Curtis recruited him for Stanford Wong's team, then later played with Allan Brown's group. Those two teams were largely responsible for changing the face of tournament blackjack, as many casinos went to invitation-only formats to prevent the top pros like Blair Rodman, Anthony Curtis, Russ Hamilton, and Allan Brown from playing.

Blair has also made a mark in poker and was one of the highest point scorers in last year's WSOP. His new book with HP is titled KILL PHIL and should be available by early fall (originally scheduled for June, but pushed back). It should be a great read and provide some valuable insights into the mind of winning tournament poker.

    Blair's style is great

Just finished watching the WPT. I enjoy watching Blair play with a style all poker and BJ players should take note. I know it's a disappointment not to be number 1 but hay, $300,000 is a nice piece of change. Congradulations Blair!

I also noted how not to act in a tournament. The two amatures at the table belong playing nickle - dime in the back room of a slum bar. Their mannerisms were so poor, I couldn't wait for them to be eliminated. I wonder if they realize what asses they made of themselves on national TV?

Thanks for the kind words. Shame they have to edit out so many of the hands. I was really worried about the hand where I folded the A-T. I was sure it was the right move, but was a bit nervous as it played out on TV. It's exciting to be there, and I'm going to get there again, and go all the way!

One more thing... That Ace Ten laydown was a fantastic play. Even more telling for me was your comment that the camera caught at the time. Something like "Well, this just can't be any good." Very impressive play.

  11. Great show

I thought this was one of the more exciting shows on this year's WPT. Knocking out two players at once and then catching the three queens provided a lot of heart thumping drama.

And I agree with Ken. You made some top notch plays, such as mucking the pocket tens early in the show. That is what separates true pros from the rest of us riff raff.

    Good luck at the WSOP.

I was reallly sweating that one. When I said it on TV, I knew I was out on a limb. I was pretty sure I was right, but would have looked really bad if wrong. It worked out well. :celebrate

    Very Nice!

I was very proud to brag to everyone I knew you.

What a COOL customer you were. I was so impressed with how professional you conducted yourself and several of your read's, (some very nice laydowns).

You were a class act all the way, a good sport no matter if you won or lost.

Very nice follow up to last years WSOP success and best wishes for this years WSOP. Looking forward to seeing you many more times on TV in the future.
