Hi all Just finally got home after being away for 6 weeks and found this in my inbox from Sun Casino In Monte Carlo they still have sat qualifying rounds next few weeks on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays which get you into the next rounds
believe Prize pool is 500,000 euros

Have copied the rules sent to me below, is similar to UBT style with secret bets and eliminations ( thought this was infringement of copyright?) although if like last one i played here has no surrender

    SUN CASINO SATELLITE TOURNAMENTS
    TOURNAMENT TEAM 1
RULES FOR BLACK JACK SATELLITE TOURNAMENTS

Admission to the qualifying rounds in Monte Carlo on November 22
    nd and 23rd, 2007, with a

view to taking part in the final of the International Black Jack Tournament to be held on

December 8, 2007 at the Sun Casino, will be gained by way of satellite tournaments which
will be organized at the Sun Casino every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, beginning
Thursday, September 6, 2007 and lasting 11 weeks.
The satellite tournaments will thus qualify 45 people by way of eliminatory events over 2
    rounds.

Monegasque nationals are not authorized to take part in these tournaments.

Persons who are officially banned from entering Casinos or from gaming activities are

likewise barred from entering the tournaments. The same applies to minors under 18
    years of age.

Qualification passes and passes giving access to the final are nominative and nontransferable.

Any person wishing to take part in the first round of the satellite tournaments must

register with the cashier at Sun Casino and pay an entrance fee, or stake, of €300.
The player may then choose the day and time of his or her participation subject to
availability. A coupon will be delivered, which must be presented for that person to
    take his or her place.

The admission fee for satellite tournaments is €300 for the first entry and the first reentry.

Any additional re-entry thereafter will require an admission fee of €500. Only
those players already accredited by the

Société des Bains de Mer may pay their

    admission fee by cheque.

The number of re-entries is unlimited.

Entries will close 1 hour prior to the opening time set for each table in the satellite

    tournament.

No late arrival will be tolerated. Any person arriving late will lose his or her place and

will be required to pay a new entry fee or stake, and enter at another time if he or she
so wishes. This will count as an additional entry.

The super satellite tables for the 1st and 2nd rounds will be playing with 5 to 7 players.

Places will be selected at random, drawing from a deck of 52 cards; the player

drawing the highest card will occupy the first seat next to the shoe, the next highest
the second seat and so forth until the 7

    th seat.

    The Button (first seat marker) will also be drawn at random using a deck of 52 cards;

the highest card will be given the Button. Thereafter and up to the 30

    th hand and

during tie-breaks (if required), the Button will move clock-wise around the table.
    SUN CASINO SATELLITE TOURNAMENTS
    TOURNAMENT TEAM 2

Once settled in their seats and once the Button has been placed on the table, each

player will receive €5,000 in tournament chips, a secret stake card and a pen.

Each player will have 30 seconds in which to place his or her stake.

The minimum stake is €100, the maximum stake is €2,500.

All bets must be multiples of €100.

Should a player wish to bet “all in” (i.e. stake all his or her chips), the stake may

    comprise fractions of €100.

Should a player overrun the time allowed to bet, the Floorman will issue a reminder of

the rules and grant an extra 10 seconds. Beyond that time the player will be obliged
to bet the table’s minimum stake.

Should a player systematically place late bets and repeatedly receive reminders, the

Tournament’s Management Committee shall reserve the right to exclude him or her
    from the table.

    continued from previous thread:

A secret stake does not entitle a player to additional betting time.
A player may bet one secret stake only.
A secret stake may not exceed the number of chips a player has on the table.
The first and second rounds of satellite tournaments will be played over 30 hands.
A player may bet in one box only and must place his or her bet in the box designed

for that purpose directly in front of him.

Each player’s chips must remain visible on the table. Chips cannot be transferred

from one player to another. No arrangement is possible between players. Failure to

follow these rules will lead to expulsion from the table and disqualification from the
    tournament.
The official language of the tournament is French. No visual or verbal exchange will

be allowed between spectators and players.

No assistance, in whatsoever form, will be authorized at the table.

Any spectator attracting attention or making comments about the game will be asked

    to leave the playing area.

Players are not entitled to converse about game strategy or bets. Each player is

responsible for his or her game and shall clearly indicate to the croupier his or her

    next move (draw or hold).
Each player will have 30 seconds to make his or her choice; once this time is up, the

player will automatically hold (not draw another card).

Any player who fails to abide by the tournament rules or by the rules applicable to the

Casinos of Monte Carlo, or who turns aggressive towards the personnel or another

player, may be expelled if so decided by the Tournament’s Management Committee.
    SUN CASINO SATELLITE TOURNAMENTS
    TOURNAMENT TEAM 3
Any dispute must be settled at the tournament table.

In every case, the decision taken by the Tournament’s Management Committee shall

    prevail.

Whenever a player runs out of chips, he or she is eliminated from the game.

At the 8th, 16th and 25th hands, the player (or players) with the least number of chips

    will be eliminated.

No second buy-in (new stake) will be allowed.

After the 30th hand, the player with the greatest number of chips will qualify to sit at

    the 2

nd round table and if he or she takes part in the 2nd round will receive a

qualification pass for the Monte Carlo semi-finals.
he croupier will not draw on a soft 17 (ace & 6)

    ·

Tie-Break: the number of hands will be decided by the number of tied players; there

will be 3 hands per tied player. No new buy-in will be possible and no secret bet
    allowed.

    RANDOM DRAW FOR PLAYER SEATS
It is understood that the first place allocated at the table will be the seat closest to the shoe.
The other seats will then be allocated clockwise.
    The croupier mixes the cards.
The croupier will then shuffle the pack in Ultimate Poker Texas Hold ‘Em style (2

The croupier then spreads the cards face downwards (circle spread) and asks players to
choose one card and turn it over.
Cards must remain on the table.
Players take up their positions from the highest card downwards, from the left of the
    Croupier to the right.
Turned over cards will be burnt.
    RANDOM DRAW FOR THE BUTTON
Once the players have settled into their respective seats, they will again choose a card

Thanks for letting us know about this

So apparently there's a 'European Blackjack Tour'; who'd have thought it? I can hear the sound of the UBT lawyers sharpening their pencils. :) Presumably this is its first year?

I was going to ask where Paris comes into the equation, but I took a look at the web site and found a link to the Paris venue, the 'Cercle Gaillon'.

The information presented at both sites is awfully unclear. I'm totally confused. I'll try and make a summary of what I've gleaned from the web sites, pointing out the areas that seem particularly obscure to me.

    Monte Carlo
    Final: Dec. 8th.
    Semis: Nov 22nd,23rd.
Satellites: thu, fri, sat for 11 weeks. €300 entry, €300 rebuy, €500 for further rebuys. Satellite is two rounds. First place from each round-1 table qualifies for round 2. Now what on earth does this mean ....

"... and if he or she takes part in the 2nd round will receive a qualification pass for the Monte Carlo semi-finals." ?

Do they mean if he or she wins the 2nd round? And how do they arrive at ...

"The satellite tournamens will thus qualify 45 people by way of eliminatory events over 2 rounds." ?

Since there are rebuys available, there's no knowing how many players will be in the second round. Presumably the winner of each 2nd-round table (how ever many there happen to be) must qualify for the semis. ??

VIP Tournaments: With a min. of four players, a Sit&Go can be arranged for €1500 entry. The winner "will obtain a qualification pass for the Monte Carlo tournament days at the Sun Casino". Presumably this means they will qualify for the semis, just as if they had done so via the satellites. It's not very clear, though.

    Paris
'Televised' Final: Dec 8th. (Presmuably at Monte Carlo, rather than a separate event)
Semis: Dec 1st,2nd. (Appears to be the option of a direct buy-in for €3,160 ??)
    Satellites: Tuesdays -
    Sit&Go, 7 players, €500 'Freezeout'.
    Super-satellites, 14 players, €250 'Freezeout'
Possibility of organising €100 satellites or €1000 4-player satellites.

Quite how all that relates to qualifying (or if it even does) is unclear to me.

In both cases there's no mention of the payout structure. It sounds like there's no money to be won before the Dec. 8th final, just qualification.

Mace, I'm not posing all these questions expecting you to necessarily know the answsers, just to share my lack of understanding with everybody. :) But if you can shed some light on any of this then I'd certainly be grateful.

Most of what i get from them is just as unclear, I played and won a tournament there after winning a trip , I now get emails from them, Would also point out although officialy is french spoken tournament, they do speak English and where reasonably helpful, But format was different last time, on their main web page it says 500,000 euro's prize but no break down, Will speak to my host there and see if i can find out prize structure

    Thanks.

I think I read that the 500,000 is an estimate. With an unknown number of players and (expensive) rebuys, I suspect that must be very much a guess. Another missing piece of information is how much of the entry fees goes into the prize pool.

Paris satellites are held at Aviation Club de France (Thursdays) and Cercle Gaillon (Tuesdays). However, they seem to have problems finding players, I have not been able to play so far (for lack of players).

The best way might be to register for the semi-final, but at EUR 3400 a seat it's a bit on the expensive side.

It sounds that the organizers of this event made the same mistake a lot of BJT organizers do: high entry fees without a guaranteed prize pool.

    Hi,

Just in case there is any confusion, this thread relates to events from last year. However, as I think you have probably spotted, the Linz and Monte Carlo tournaments have been advertised again for this year.

Regarding Linz, were you told how many entrants they currently have? The web site that I linked to here - https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/threads/4922 - still says that there are 121 (out of 140) places available, just as it did in June. Since we now know at least one further place has been taken, I wonder if the site has not been updating.

Regarding Monte Carlo, I've been checking their web site from time to time since posting this - https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/threads/4878. Recently, there has been a slight screw-up with their site, which means that the link I posted no longer works. However, the page is still accessible here - www.montecarlocasinos.com/European-Black-Jack-Tour-2008,1446.html

Once again, the content has not changed since June. We are still being told that further details will be given in 'just a few weeks'. I tried emailing the address given but didn't receive a reply.

    Hi all,
I live in Europe, have called MC last week. Wasn't easy to get someone who even knew about the tournament. She told me it has been cancelled, I should call in another month or so.
    Cheers
