Thats right Texas Tournaments is giving away a free seat to the World Series of Poker plus $1,000 cash every twelve weeks.

    How? Why? When? Where?

In my new Texas Tournament Club Poker League. I am hosting nightly poker tournaments at different clubs and restaurants here in Texas and it is all free to the players.

Play will be starting around the middle of Febuary.

Nightly winners will be posted on the Texas Tournaments web site (under construction) along with a list of all the locations and tournament schedules.

As I sign up more clubs, I will be giving away more seat's in the WSOP.

    WSOP seats and Cash tournaments

Well I told you Texas Tournaments Player Poker League (TTPPL) was going to start hosting poker tournaments and give away a $10,000 seat into the WSOP, sorry I was wrong!

Actually one of my TTPPL locations will be giving away two seats ($20,000 value).

What is the cost to enter? NOTHING! Thats right it is all free to play in my League.

Thats not all, every twelve weeks I'll be giving away Cash Prizes for the league championship. Plus other special cash tournaments at different loctions through out the year.

Next Wed. May 24th, 2006 a TTPPL member location Star-Lounge in Hurst, TX will be giving away $2,000.00 cash.

Players must play in the 7:00 PM session (100% free) to qualify to play in the 10:00 PM session for the Cash Prizes, (again 100% free).

    Prize breakdown is:

    1st - $1,000.00
    2nd - $500.00
    3rd - $300.00
    4th - $100.00
    5th - $50.00
    6th - $25.00
    7th - $25.00

All my TTPPL locations are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex (at this time) and all TTPPL events are free to play. Only restrictions is at some locations you must be 21 years of age to play.

For each 12 week league play Texas Tournament will give-a-way $500.00 cash per location. We are hoping to have close to 50 locations before the first of the year.

Just think 50 locations X $500.00 = $25,000.00 every 12 weeks in our league championship finals. And at least one player from each of my locations will qualify for the league finals.

Best of all it is all free to play. ;)

YES it is legal! How could it not be, the players pay nothing so it cannot be gambling!

You gotta love the EV on these tournaments...LOL

If your in the Metroplex and would like to play just send me a private message with your name and e-mail and I'll put you on the TTPPL mailing list for up coming events.

    Even better

I went to the state and federal level for okay, then talked to the local level.

Plus the approval of the T.A.B.C. (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission).

And to answer your question, YES I HAVE IT IN WRITING!

Move over Amatuer Poker League (APL) in Texas anyway. Are cost is 1/3 of yours and payout CASH prizes every 12 weeks! Plus every location has a one seat guaranteed in our league finals, again every 12 weeks.

  5. Dang TX, I sure wish I was out there in Big D. I played in a similar league while in Florida during spring break and it was a lot of fun. Their prizes pale in comparison to yours. Our state Alcohol Beverage Control agency shut down similar operations here even though there were no cash prizes. You only won gift cards to the sponsoring restaurants/bars and stuff like poker sets.
    Good Luck with it.

    Thats Funny

Actually in Texas gift cards (for drinks) or bar tabs anything of that nature awarded here are against the T.A.B.C. rules.

Several states have local and state law enforcement that don't want these games and prizes so they say they are illegal or against the rules. This is either a bluff in most cases or because they really don't know the laws themselves.

I had the same thing happen to me before here. A few years back I was going to host 3 blackjack tournaments for cash prizes in Ft. Worth. The Chief of Police decided he didn't like the idea so he told me "HE" wouldn't allow the tournaments.

I had already had the okay from everyone else and he couldn't stop me, but he went to the hotel where I was going to host the events and told them they could lose their liquor licence and get in trouble if they let me host the events. So the hotel canceled on me at the last moment.

Since the scheduled tournaments were legal the hotel is in breech of contract with me for canceling the events and are liable for damages.

Their attorneys keep putting us off saying that the police told their clients that the events were illegal, but the police (or any law enforcement agency) can not give legal advice or they are breaking the law.

The police can only arrest us if they feel we broke the law and even than we can file charges and sue them for false arrest if they are wrong.

My point is that anyone that knows the state penal codes and local laws and not scared of a little fight can host events like I do without fear of being arrested.

You just have to push back when they try their bluffs on you. They have a lot more to lose than we do if they are wrong.

Just look at James Grossjean, he wasn't affraid to fight for what he thought was right and he won! Not once but a couple of times vs. the casinos.

I myself have been putting on "CASH" prizes tournaments since 1998 here in Texas without problems (other then the one mentioned above). And I intend on hosting plenty more, also without problems.

If they want a fight I'll give them one!

Bottomline on these poker tournaments, is if a players is not risking any money, "IT CANNOT BE GAMBLING"!

    court settlement

How was your suit against the police dept and the hotel settled?

    Hotel only

I had no suit agaist the police, they didn't stop the tournaments, the hotel did.

It is still pending agaist the hotel as I stated in my other post that their attorneys keep putting us off.

    Police and TABC showed up...

Well for all of you that thought the club owner and I might get arrested last night for the $2,000 "Cash" give-a-way at the Texas Tournament Players Poker League (TTPPL) poker tournament I post about a few days ago, you were right! But luckily we didn't!

But not over what you might be thinking, the tournament was legal and a big success, actually a little too successful. We had so many players show up that the club was over the building capacity. The owner had to turn players/customer away, (nice situation for a club owner to have).

The Hurst police and TABC both showed up and checkout the tournaments (at my request) and found nothing illegal with the tournaments or my "Cash" give-a-way format.

I had also invited several other club owners and managers to witness this "Cash" give-a-way first hand to show them that I could legally award cash prizes here in Texas.

After hearing both the police and TABC saying that everything was done legally, I had several clubs sign up with the TTPPL as their new poker league.

With the clubs I signed last night and more that want to sign-up over the next few weeks it looks like for the next 12 week league TTPPL will be giving over $10,000 away in league cash prizes.

I expect we will be the poker league for close to 100 locations by the first of the year, if so that will be $50,000 in cash prizes we'll be giving away every 12 weeks and with no entry fee or charge to the players, now that is what I call "POSITIVE EV"...LOL!

Checkout my new poker logo and slogan, tell me what you think? The slogan was from the old Dire Straits MTV song, I think it is pretty catchy if I say so myself:

"Money for nothing and your chips for free"

Now that I have cash poker tournaments up and running in Texas, next goal is to start hosting regular cash blackjack tournaments, their legal also, but with entry fees charged 100% of the entry's and re-buys must be awarded back as prize money.

The problem with blackjack is it is associated with having a built in house or odds, I just need to educate them to tournament blackjack, where it is player vs. player and no house involved.

With any luck I may get regular weekly or nightly tournaments set up at the clubs with small entries $10 to $20 and a small Sit & Go type of format like the events I occasionally host now.

    Wish me luck!

Believe me I'm working on it and I am about to just sign up with some investors that can make it happen.

But don't worry, blackjack is still my first love and I will never quit trying to promote BJ tournaments.

    Poker tourneys

Way to go TX. I guess having previous experience and set backs helped push you over the top, in this one. After such a hard climb, now you can put lifts in to make it easier.

How many people are you sending to the WSOP main event? Will they be wearing your logo and are you going to be there to so we can meet for drinks etc.?

    Changed to cash awards

The players elected to play for cash awards instead of any WSOP seats, (this year).

Next year one of the locations hosting my poker league, (Star Lounge) is offering $10,000 two seats and have already been running the qualifiers.

As far as logos, Yes the winners will wear the locations logo.

I'm not planning a trip to Vegas for the WSOP. I'm what is call "DEAD MONEY" in poker, at least I know it and save myself $10,000 + expense...LOL

I'm just planning a Tunica - Gold Strike trip and the BJ cruise for next month.

Good luck to all that are going to the WSOP.

Casinos make no sense, holding a BJ tourney during the main event of the WSOP. Impossible to do both and who wants to miss the WSOP and a chance for millions? Who from this site will be at the WSOP main event so we can meet have a few drinks and share bad beat stories?
