    Cash Game

I've watched it twice...regular schedule is Monday @ 9pm EST.

The difference from WPT is that it's a cash game. Player's must start with $100k (Daniel Negreanu got in with $1 Million) and can buy in with more at any time.

As did Ted Forrest after losing an all-in. He stood up, reached into his pocket, came out with two $25k chips, calmly tossed them on the table and sat back down. They can also pick up and leave at any time. Other players are waiting to get in.

Players, rules, etc are on the GSN web site. Here's a link High Stakes Poker

    One of Kevin's babies

High Stakes Poker is one of Kevin B's. shows (WSOB). It really is a nice little twist watching the players play with REAL money (and their own).

If you didn't notice Henry Ornstein is the producer of the show, Henry is the one who came up with the idea of cameras in the poker tables.

Thanks to Henry and his idea, poker has grown in popularity world wide. It is also accepted by more and concidered an acceptable sport or business unlike in years passed.

    Great final hand

Thanks TX for bringing this program to my attention.

The last hand between Barry Greenstein and Sam Farha (spelling?) was nothing short of spellbinding for me. Barry with pocket rockets and Sam with pocket kings - what a finish. I am partial to Barry since he grew up only a couple of miles from my old stomping grounds. Unfortunately he lost that hand as everyone who watched already knows. I can never get a "read" on Barry or Sam when they play. Would not want to face either in a poker tournament.:yikes:

    Tough lay down...

Pocket Kings would be such a tough lay down, but being up so much and with it being the last hand of the night i think I would have had to toss the Kings away and not make that last call.

I would just have to walk away with the almost $200,000 in front of me vs. coming home broke.

Now it worked out, but why risk it? That was a case of when is enough, enough. Greed will kill you, (at least bust you...LOL) Sam got lucky on that one.

I'm not sure, but I'd bet Barry could afford to lose that hand a lot easier then Sam from a finanical stand point.

Barry donates all his tournament winnings to charity so anyone that gives away millions each year wouldn't sweat a $200,000 loss (or as much anyway).

Barry was a CLASS ACT, he just walked away no compliants. That is why he is concidered the top CASH PRO in poker.

That Shiek (spelling?) guy on the other hands seems to be a jerk in every show I see him on. He acts like a spoiled little kid that doesn't get his own way. He is the only part of the show I didn't like.

  8. The last hand was definitely a great TV hand but what about the next to last hand?

Just in case you haven't seen the show, here is some spoiler space if you want to keep the results unknown

For those of you who didn't see it, 6 players stayed in the hand all the way to the river and not a single pair was to be seen. There was an ace on the board and a K-6 in someone's hand took the pot over a K-4.

    I believe...

It was Barry that took that pot over Daniel if I am not mistaken.

I would have put my money on Barry fro the beginning, pretty hard for Sam to cheat on TV and not get caught. He has been caught cheating and disquilified from that event.

  11. I don't watch much television. What cheating has he done in the past?

Cheating is a Felony In Nevada

Calling someone a cheater with no hard evidence is not a good thing.Cheating in Nevada is a FELONY.I would think twice about saying that on a public board or on a TV show .Right UNCLE MATT

You must be thinking of another player at another event!

Sam couldn't be disqualified from that event since it is a cash game not tournament play.

I had not heard anything about Sam cheating so I call to confirm your story and it never happened at that show.

I would think something like a professional poker player getting caught cheating would be front page news.

I wouldn't be spreading any rumors unless I had all my facts straight and could prove them.

Pokernut be careful, you could be setting yourself up for a big slander lawsuit.

In January of 2005 at the Gold Strike Sam was caught palming chips and putting them into his pocket. I would call this cheating as many people do this in order to either pass the chips onto someone else or to use them in another event. In January of this year Jimmy Tran was caught adding $900 in chips to his stake and was disquilified from that event.Cheating is never made public as it would be bad for the game, the same as cheating in Bj events is never made public.

    I always heard

If anyone has ever got caught cheating in a BJ tournament it is all around the tournament within hours. In most cases players that aren't even there are call and told what has happened.

I'm not sure how it works in poker, but I would think there would be some word about it somewhere. If it was at a WSOP or WPT event I would think that they would disqualify that player for at least a year or so.

Both the WSOP and the WPT and most all other tourneys state in their rules that if caught pocketing chips, etc. you will be disquilified from that event. You are free to enter the next days event. And you are right about the word spreading, as soon as someone is caught and disquilified it is spread all around the tourney. But it is not made public either in Poker or Bj events. When Sam was caught in Tunica he stated he forgot the rules and put chips in his pocket while being moved to another table and he was a large chip leader at the time. But most chips get pocketed or added while being moved or during breaks. In Jimmy Tran's case he added $900 in chips to his stack after a break. By the way he made the final table in the next days event. And as far as being charged with a felony, what is someone stealing, non-negotiable chips, they are have no value, all they are doing is breaking tournament rules.

    Mistake or cheating?

Pokernut once again I suggest you be careful on what you say on an open forum post.

If Sam was to read this post he could get very up set being called a Cheater. From what you stated he was DQ for rules violation, not because of cheating.

You said he was one of the chip leaders at the time this happened, are you 100% sure that his mistake was intentional?

That is what you would have to prove in a court of law, where he could prove that you slandered his name publicly with no problem and on your first post mentioned a different tournament then you did later as to where the incident happened.

In my opinion if you break the rules you are cheating, it may be intentional or not, but it is still breaking the rules. If you break the casino rules on a live game of BJ, the casino can call it cheating and 86 you or file charges if they want to. They are far more protective of their own money than they are of tournament players money.

    Just trying to protect you

I don't care what you say or who you call out, I was just trying to protect you from possible slander suit.
Your opinion could get you sued when voiced on an open forum.
