Ohhhh, Panther, you may be an awesome counter, but your memory is a little bit swiss-cheesed!
My apologies, CP. You'd said that you had made an offer to the Great Schultzyy, but it was aimed at me way back then. See you in Ignace. I'll be the one with the size 12 shoe in my yap!
Rated Play Hey Creeping Panther, Is that 2 hours per day of rated play or just an overall total of 2 hours? Also, what average bet is required to qualify? Billy C
Billy C. I was told by Diann that 2 hours of rated play on the BJ felt, were needed. That is all I know, but the problem for me is not putting in BJ time but slot time as last weekend when we did the slot tourney. We ended up playing alot of VP and really had a good time at it, and we made the points needed for $50 apiece. I would think sitting a total of 2 hours hours at a BJ game will do the trick, $5 table. You can always pick a loaded table and get fewest hands per hour. Creeping Panther.
Left NUT Ok, I see where you are coming from. The private offer I made 'The Great Schultzyy" was far different from what I spoke to you about and the same offer was extended to Monkey System if he wanted to join in the experience at some future time. I wish Monkey System were making this tourney so that he may agree to join in this...... "party". I hope that those from this site and a few others may get together at Ignas'e for a private gathering. Possibly in the main dinning room overlooking the Horse Shoe Bay or even the Sports Bar near those great VP machines and have a social gathering. that could be very nice as well as interesting and intellectually stimulating. Creeping Panther
Not a problem That is very acceptable criteria for cashback qualification. The increase in drink prices might be a good thing for me. Hard to stay sober when they sell good drinks for 50 cents! Like LeftNut and Monkeysystem, I tend to play lots of VP but a couple hours of BJ is fine with me. Might do more than that if I like the conditions. See ya there. Billy C
It's supposed to be a secret Hey CP, Quit telling everyone about THOSE vp machines. I think there are only 5 or 6 and I'd like to use one. I like your socialization idea. I'll buy the first round, even at the inflated price of $1.25 per drink. Billy C
Billy C, sorry about that! For as many times I go to Ignase' I seldom see anyone playing THOSE machines, I think it has something to do with the location and the denomination. I agree that a social gathering would be great fun. Creeping Panther.
It's Easy Is that all? I've exceeded that every time I've ever gone up there, notwithstanding the fact I'm a VP freak. Gotta have a change of pace once in awhile. That would not be a problem at all. My sentiments exactly... Maybe June. If you guys want to have a social get together you might consider the fireplace area too. But you'd have to BYOB.
Location My vote for social gathering would be lounge area of sports bar (8PM Fri.?). Does anyone know what Kewadin at Sault Ste. Marie location offers for open BJ and VP play??? I've not been to that casino but might try it if playable. All responses appreciated! Billy C
We will be late arrivals Friday night, if we want to get together and have a little party, Saturday would obviously work best for us. I just talked with Deanne, the tourney is all but sold out. (150 players) She said there are only a couple of spots left to fill.
Hmmm... Anybody got recomendations on a good VP book? I have yet to give it a try. Friday or Saturday would work for me. Dan
BJ the same Billy C, I have only been up there once and the BJ was the same as what is found at St. Ignace but it has been a couple of years. VP conditions? - I don't know, I'm still looking for a book on the subject. Dan
Jean Scott's Frugal Stuff I have Jean Scott's software "Frugal Video Poker." I practice with it while watching TV with MrsMonkey or waiting in between ClubUBT rounds. Check out http://wizardofodds.com/videopoker for good information and strategy tables. The strategy tables are in the format of an order of precedence when faced with the choice between two different kinds of hands. Ken sells Jean Scott's books and software on blackjackinfo.com at http://www.blackjackinfo.com/catalog/ Good luck!
As to the get-together, Deb and I would both vote for Saturday night since those who are already done with the tournament can freely drown their sorrows without worrying about a "morning after" fog clouding the judgment. Dan, Monkeysytem gave you some good advice. I have never read a book on VP because the best way to learn the games, by far, is a software trainer program. Frugal is excellent, as is Bob Dancer's Video Poker for Winners (I was a beta-tester for that). The program that I learned on and still use is WinPoker. It's an earlier program with a whole lot fewer bells-&-whistles but is still one of the benchmarks.
Billy C and others Thanks for the info on the VP trainers. I have been using the WZOodds trainer for the last week and found it very good. I would vote for the Saturday evening get together in the Sports Bar since many will be arriving later on Friday, as Schultzyy noted. As to ignace vs. Sault....Sault does have a few of the "good" VP games. Bj differs in that the DD has spots for 6 players, not seven and they are all hand shuffle and higher limits, $5 to $200. I have found the dealers to be very "House" and there is much more *heat* there. However, I have been able to track the shuffle there with great success,(when I could have near constant control of the cut card), which more than makes up for the unfriendly dealers. Creeping Panther
VP at the Soo According to vpFREE, a premier video poker info site on Yahoo, Sault only has the same 9/6 JoB that Ignace does although Sault offers it in quarters as well as dollars. I'll leave the BJ tables analysis to CP! Either night for the get-together is OK by us. Saturday might work better for more folks for the reason noted by Schultzy. Is anyone staying Sunday night as well?
