    I'm in line for 10%

    Chips:
If TX isn't interested, I'll pay you the $2 if it gets me 10% of your winnings in the tournament.:D

    Damn Chips...

You could win $30,000 using your mulligan's, I thought I'd get at least $30 out of it...LOL :D

    Mulligan Value

    Toolman and Tex,

First of all, I have alread "sold" 23 10% shares for $2 each, so I already have a profit of $26!!. Let's see, you (may) use a Mulligan once in 28/30 hands (per round), so to be fair, the split should be 10% of any prize divided by 28 or 30 (as the "non-mulligan" hands would not be effected). Making the semi-finals pays $100 so that would be a nominal 35 cents back on your $2 investment. Top prize is $15K (not 30K) so that would equate to ~$50....still interested??!!

    Hell of a deal...

Nice, that would be $20 more than I would have expected, but I wouldn't want to cut into the other 23 players profits...LOL.

Your comps dollars are always good at "Chip's Five and Dime"....but I didn't think you had any comp dollars left at the LVH!!

    LVH Comps

Am sure you are aware, but since the LVH went from their dual cash and comps system to the single comp system (which can be received at face value for cash), they are only good for 6 months from date earned now.

    Current LVH tourney info.

There are just over 200 in this tourney. Was told by LVH Staff, that it was likley that they would be returning some (Mulligan) money in the form of cash drawing prizes tomorrow - will have to see and will post what happens. Also told that Mulligan money may be used to host banquets in the future. My informal estimate is that between half and two thirds have bought Mulligans for this one.

    Thanks Chips

As long as the LVH (or any casinos) tells us about mulligans or any other gimmick I don't have a problem with them.

The way I see it is the casinos will make more money, the more players they have playing so it seems to me they will open them up more in the future.

It's like charging a fee, but at least the players get a little bonus out of the deal besides getting to play in an open tournament.

    LVH Mulligan update

Estimating between 3/4 and 5/6 of the folks (untimately) bought mulligans during this recent tourney. The had a cash drawing from only the pool of mulligan purchasers. They gave away ten $100 draws and one $500 draw. This represented approximately half the collected mulligan money. The payouts for this draw were in cash ($100 bills) btw, not chips as they pay the tourney prize money.

Sorry 4 taking you out of context. You're right I thought I knew a lot but this weekend showed I didn't know tournament play. I did qualify for the November Hilton so I'll see U there.

    Hilton Tournament

I too played in the $30,000 tournament this past weekend.

The mulligan, and imaginary ace hand now seem to be a standard part of Hilton BJ tounaments.

I totally disagree with JOEPs objection to the mulligan fee. It adds an interesting mid-session feature to tournament play, which is normally dull as experienced players tend to make minimum bets untill the last few hands.

At least part of the mulligan fee was returned to players via a drawing at the
end of the tournament when 10 names were drawen for $100, and one name for $500.

As I've said before I can't understand any objection to paid mulligans for FREE
tournaments whether or not announced in advance.

    Missing MY Point

Fred guy my objections to the Mulligan fee were just that, the fee.

If the Hilton intentions were to make tournament play more interesting than why charge the players for it

If you want an interesting format that doesn't allow players to just sit back and wait you should put your seat belt on when you play a UBT tournament.

You seem to be pretty new around here so I will tell you this a lot of the top players have refined their games to a point that there are no longer just pushing out minimum bets until the last 2 or 3 hands the other players have become to good for that style of play to work any more .

My other objection which is the real point to this controversy is that Mulligans do nothing to add to the skill level as a matter of fact all they accomplish is making it more of a carnival game where the skill level is completely thrown out the bathroom window

    joep....

    You said,

"You seem to be pretty new around here so I will tell you this a lot of the top players have refined their games to a point that there are no longer just pushing out minimum bets until the last 2 or 3 hands the other players have become to good for that style of play to work any more ."

Perhaps you would be will to share with me, and other readers of this forum those strategies that provide for other than minimum bets until the last few hands ?

By the way....I may be new to this forum, but I am not new to black jack tournaments.I have finished in the money on several major invitational tournaments. I don't have time to play in the "penny ante" events frequently talked about in this forum.

    Respectfully submitted....

    Way Off Base

Fred since you have cashed in many tournaments why would you want help from me in creating a new style of play. You seem to have that all covered

Now as far as players playing in "Penny Ante' events your words not mine we all play in events that we are comfortable in and within the means of our bankroll. I find your comments to not only be off base but rather offensive and for something to be offensive to me takes a lot.

We have had here and continue to have here a nice family of tournament players some who play in 10 K events and others who have not played in one over a $ 10 entry fee. We all share info and advice from the Big players right down to the one that play the smaller events or as you refer to them "Penny Ante"

So i'm not sure where you are going or what point you are trying to make other than attempting to butt heads with me . I only said what I didnt like about the Mulligan nothing about you

Why does it seem that as of late most new posters try to engage me in some sort of verbal war. Or is it that there are all one in the same person :joker: using different names.

If this is what you want you have come to the right place .

I'm always up for a spin around the dance floor
