kind of strange that she is not responding. i remember last year she worked the state fair, and with the flooding problems the region had at that time, was the reason she gave for not responding as quickly as possible.
now, do not know why there is not any communication.

I just got a call from LeftNut and he asked me to post. Sara told him know they are increasing the pay-outs, below first place. She is going to email him all the details and he will post on the forum ASAP.

lefty must be golden. we have sent several more emails and a couple of more phone calls, including one to tammy who the rep at the players club said to contact. all have fallen on deaf ears.

have praised the people and the tournament in the past. sure cannot do so any more.

 

Here's the deal in more detail. Sara called me first from the many voicemails she had, don't know why I was chosen but she asked if I'd post the situation - which is why I called Schultzy and asked him to post what he did (thanks, buddy). I do not have Internet access at work on Mondays and Tuesdays.

As reported earlier, they are, indeed, adding a free Sunday morning "continental" breakfast buffet for the players, she said it was by popular demand. She also reiterated that the prizes below 1st are being pumped up but she didn't have details - yet. I pressed her a bit and she admitted they didn't quite have it ready, expected it late today or sometime tomorrow. She promised to email that me and I will post it ASAP.

She also said that she'd been busy with other stuff, I got the impression it was away from the casino but I may be wrong.

We will be holding off on our decision until I see what Sara sends.

thanks for the post. we are in the same situation as you and deb, that is holding off with a final decision. time is running out for us. with other venues that could be attended, the information for our purpose needs to be available.

Adds up to 60400. Rebuys still $50, added continental breakfast. Structure the same. If it is filled, they take in 64000, which is not unreasonable. My guess is that the difference goes to the dealers as it has previously. Now we can decide.

 

Leilahay, it looks like I got the same info at almost the same time as you - so now you don't have to feel left out.

I am assuming that they are going to do as before - guarantee 1st with the others based on a full field. They have had little problem filling except for the last time when the hotel operation screwed the tournament promoters out of some rooms, making it impossible to fill with players other than locals.

This amounts to about a 6% vig, which doesn't bother me at all - especially when you have to factor in the cost of three meals, some freebies, and two nights of comped hotel room for ALL players. As traveling BJT players, we have to learn to accept a small vig for the host or BJT's will dry up for all but the high rollers. If, as Leilahay mentioned, they are lopping some off for the dealer tip pool, I hope they learned from past mistakes and let us know about it.

I'm satisfied. Deb and I will probably go although I won't be able to speak with her about it until tomorrow morning.

I just found one of their booklets from last October's BJT. And I am no longer "satisfied!"

Comparing prize lists, the top seven spots are identical, except that 5th place actually went down by $1,000. And all semifinalists used to get $400, now it's $300. We were told the $50 increase was going to help the lower-level prizes, instead the prize list went down.
WTF is going on there????????

 

Last October was supposed to be a 63000. I remember because we were upset when it wasnt--if you look at April, prize pool was only around 55 (I dont have the papers).This is an increase over what they paid then.

I was in the "semis" in October and I'm quite sure that paid less than $400 but I don't remember the exact amount.

Finals usually start around 530 or 6. If you have a long drive, best to stay the night. Works well if more than one share a room since each gets two nights. Otherwise I think the extra night is $35.

My "guess" is 6 PM but someone may correct me on that. Would be nice to see you and your crew there!

6 PM is a good guess, and it's about 9 hours each way for you, Pill. Sure hope to see you there!

BillyC, you did get a hair less than $400. That was the BJT where the hotel end didn't have enough rooms to allow a full BJT field. First place was guaranteed but the other prizes were knocked back a little bit.

OK, I talked with Sara by email and here's the deal. Meskwaki's BJT's were actually money-added but the side action has fallen a bunch from previous events (go figure, they wrecked their video poker). This time they're not adding money to the pool so the BJT will stand on it's own, they're not depending on the side action to at least break even. To me, this is reasonable because I think a formula like this is the future of open BJT's, and again I am satisfied.

P.S. to MrPill - If two BJT players are sharing a room, it's very, very easy to get the third night comped. Simply ask the tournament management and they'll give you a coupon to turn into the hotel desk.

as leila stated, if you share a room with a another paid buy-in, you will receive FOUR nites in a row if that is how one wishes to use the coupons. two nites for each buy-in. so for us, the comped room will be thursday thru sunday nite. this is great for us and also keeps a room available for the hotel.

Glad to "hear" you folks are in. Same with Lefty and Deb. I also hope Mr. Pill and his group decide to make their initial appearance at Tama-----for those that don't know them, they are a nice (and quite qualified)) group from Ohio.
I always enjoy seeing the Kansas City (and other Missouri people) as well as several from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois at the Tama events. Many states are represented there.

Just got off the phone with them and we have 3 coming out (so far). Ask'd how many cu rrently signed up and she stated 116 and that they close it at 220.

Sounds like a great time once we get past the drive, hope to see you all there! Gotta remember to bring the John Deere cap too!

No other event comes close to that amount of participation from site members!
