I also wanted to say thank you for the info on TEAM PLAY.

I reached out to some casinos that hold some of the "bigger" BJT's and spoke with them. They all said the same things you guys did.

I can't say enough about this forum and its members.

    Many Many thanks!!!

    Congrats on getting the go-ahead!
For the added money, I say distributed throughout the payout structure.

Agree 100% with both of Ken's comments. Don't top-load the prize pool so much that the winner gets 50% (or more) of the pot.

    prize Fund

50% of the total prize fund is appropiate and common for 1st place in BJ tournaments, anything above that is considered top heavy and unfair to participants and may reduce the number of entrants in fuure tournaments.

A fair distribution of the total prize fund in my opinion is:

    1st; 50%
    2nd; 20%
    3rd; 15%
    4th; 8%
    5th 4%
    6th 3%

A nice gesture on behalf of the host casino is awarding a trophy or plaque to the tournament winner for their victory.

Ricky. If added money is to gaurantee 1st. I'd say there. After the first guarantee any remaining added should be proportionately distributed per percentages given previously as suggested by Ken, rookie and Lefty.

Look forward to it. Facility looks nice and wouldn't be a hard drive for most, for the pay out.
And with American subsiderary into Joplin would work for fliers.

Sorry, headline should be Downstream. Stream. Rivers. Water. Creeks, not the Nation. Pools. Ponds, yadda yadda. Run together in my muddled mind.

    How Big?

How many players will this tournament have? If it's over, say, 150 you might want to consider paying semifinalists who don't advance a prize. Maybe something like the entry fee or thereabouts. You don't want much than 5-10% of the players getting a prize in a big tournament.

    Billy C,

Don't throw in the towel so early on our dreams of multiple tourneys in a short time span. One thing working in our favor is the down economy, casino marketers will hopefully look back to what worked in the past, and resurrect the blackjack tournament concept. Another is if guys like shiftyricky have poker tournaments in their background, they are familiar with running multiple events over the course of a week. My hope is that he pulls off a great event and the second one he runs will be bigger, better and hopefully more than one tournament during the overall event. Remember, retro marketing has worked for other industries, i may not be patient, but i am still waiting and praying for the past to rise up again so i can calculate that better bet on the last hand.

    Hello ALL,

In hope everyone's holidays went great!

Now that the holidays are over, I can get back to working on my tournament.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still around and working on hosting a great tournament.

I will be posting more info as I progress.
