Niagara Fallsview Casino... July 29 tournament

I was considering entering the July 29 Niagara Fallsview Casino tournament but I have not yet spoken with a casino host. However, a player services rep said a room (@ $289CD/night) was not included in the $250CD entry fee. Unusual when compared to Las Vegas, Tahoe and Biloxi. She also couldn't tell me what level of casino play would be required to comp either or both costs, if at all. I know there are several of you who have information on Fallsview tournaments and I'd really like your thoughts. Thanks!

 

It is true that nothing is comped with the tournament entry fee. It is also, unfortunately, true that the level of play needed for a comp entry is a closely guarded secret. I have never achieved it, whatever it is. The most challenging aspect of entering this tournament for non-locals has always been that you need to already be an active member of the PAC (players advantage club) in order to enter (signing up online does not seem to count).

The good news is that there are almost always seats available on the day of the tournament for those brave enough to make the trip and get a card on-site. I know that a member of this site was able to do just that at the last event in April.

My new passport arrived a couple of weeks ago and I really want to go but at this point, I've not been able to come up with even one ride along which is needed to justify driving the 750 miles that it is for me. Footing the entire gas cost alone is especially hard for an event that I might not even be able to enter when I get there.
Truth is, I'm facing the same dilemma with the tourney in OK in mid July. I want to go but Google says it's 650 miles to that one for me.

 

Maybe Cadillac Tim can meet you part way?

I still haven't ruled out Niagara altho the OK BJT is a definite no-go. Problem with Niagara is I won't be able to make a decision until about 10 days beforehand due to major physical plant changes at work (same issue that will keep me from going to OK). Even if I do get away for Niagara, I'm already two-thirds of the way there from BillyC's perspective so he'd have nearly 500 miles each way by himself.

P.S. A little quality time spent searching travel sites found boatloads of Niagara rooms for $50 and less.
$200+ to stay at the casino? Thanks, but I'll pass.

 

If unable to find a traveling player partner, I might end up with this justification for the trip. Neither me or my girlfriend have ever seen Niagra
Falls so I bring her along and double+ my trip cost. Astute?

Hey Billy -- looks like you've found the time to travel to a few events lately. Have you decided if you're going to make it to Niagara on July 29?

 

Probably 50/50 chance as of right now. 1500 mile round trip cost and those room rates on top of no assurance of getting in the tourney make it extremely difficult to justify.
I'd really like to be there though with the added plus of Dakota's presence.

 

There are lots of rooms in Niagara Falls in all price ranges. Hope to see you there!

 

1500 mile is a long distance for a tourney. Under 30 mins for me

 

I think I'm going to this one. Any precautions need to be taken regarding currency exchange? Also, what about carrying several k (U.S.) going into Canada and hopefully more coming back into the States. Any concerns there?
