Meanwhile, the rest of us will be here in Oklahoma mopping up the $20,000 or so which the casino will be adding to the prize pools in these tournaments. In case you're having trouble with the math, that's enough to pay for 40,000 "antes" at their blackjack. Of course, noone says you have to play the live tables here anyway if you don't want to.

    who's the dope?

The tournaments at the Cherokee are the best tournaments that I have ever played in:

The casino adds 10% to the pot in all but the Sat. main event where they are adding $15,000 to the prize pool, last Feb. that amounted to about 44%.

The rooms at the casino hotel are better for the price than most in the country. The food is excellent and inexpensive.

    The golf course is fantastic.

Smart players are flying in from all over the country. And somebody is here but leaves because of having to pay 50 cents to bet $50 or even a better deal bet $100 to $1000 and ante $1 at an excellent 2 deck game with up to 1 3/4 decks penetration. And noone has to play at the tables if they don't want too.

Many of us have gone into town for parties and lunches. And we are all invited to a banguet on Fri. evening.

Some players are playing sit&goes from noon to 5 pm. every day.

I just hate the fact that we lost some "dead Money".

    wrong again

my wife plays blackjack 16 hours a day and tournaments don't provide that prerequisite. however i do not believe that a casino with bad odds as the cherokee casino offers should be patronized by playing in their tournaments. i quess you also buy lottery tickets too!

    not the best

when louisana coushatta has tournaments they comp their players with free rooms and food for the duration. their prizes are always in excess of 10,000 dollars and their blackjack tables stand on soft 17's and they don't charge a tax of 50 cents on each hand. their casino offers single zero roulette with a real wheel and not cards. their craps table use real dice and the odds bet is always at least 20 times the pass or no pass bet, and their video poker machines pay out 99 percent with progress pots reaching into the thousands. there is entertainment every weekend, a world class golf course, gyms, swimming pools, health spas, pool tables, beatiful dealers, and they return a percentage of all money spent on slot machines. the buy in at the tournaments is never over 100 dollars and a lot of the time the tournaments are invitational. they have poker tournaments reaching up to 250,000 dollars, slot tournaments into the same region, and the cajuns probably are some of the best cooks in the world. rarely do we ever pay for anything other than gambling and most of the time we receive gifts in the mail amonting to over 50 dollars which pays our gas there and back. we fly our airplane to the local airport and they pick us up in a limosine and take us anywhere we want to go within reason. two years ago they put us into a room at no cost for the mandatory evacuation for hurricane rita and the local mosquito authorities put our plane into their hanger (rated at 200 mph wind load - no charge). we have won over 2000 dollars on several occasions, placed in at least 3 blackjack tournaments, and i have just started. now what was that you were saying about the cherokee casino? i can go on and on. after the huricane which hit new orleans they provided rooms and food at no cost to the people of new orleans for months after the storm. although that is the best casino in louisana the big plus is that it is only 3 hours from houston. we cancelled the cherokee crap and made immediate reservation at our beloved coushatta and got the comp room and we haven't payed for food since the 1990's. and still i can go on and on. but you get the message.

    you gotta keep 'em separated

Try going over to blackjackinfo.com and asking zen or go to lasvegasadvisor.com and ask LVHCM about the ante fee and you might get a related answer, but this is blackjacktournamets.com. This OK tourney is one of the best on the market and there is no debate about it. Why? Because its an OPEN value added game by this gracious casino. Im not even there! If I were there I would be kissing wildwoods feet and licking his toes, unless he told me not to. I could go on and on, but you get the message. LOL

If it wasn't for Oklahoma gambling laws and this .50 ante there wouldn't be all these casinos here in Oklahoma giving away so much money. In the future, the laws will change, no more ante and the casinos keep all the money like Las Vegas. There goes the tournaments. The rules vary from casino to casino here. The rules here in Lawton Comanche Nation are very good and the prize money is great. The tournaments do favor a regular/local, but of the people who make it into the money many are casual players. Like others say if you don't like the rules don't play. For me I don't mind the ante. I end up spending a lot more going to Vegas, Tunica, etc., than driving 10 minutes to my local casino. My reward/comp for playing my local casino are the credits I get for the big money no entry tournaments.

    oklahoma casinos

i have to disagree with you as what you determine as lots of money at the tournaments. that money is added to tournaments at the expense of the locals who play and ultimately lose their money in the oklahoma casinos. mathematics is exact and if the odds are better in las vegas at the tables then you should win more or lose less in las vegas. this fact is undeniable and 1 plus 1 always equals 2. there are no exceptions. blackjack, roulette, and craps have an exact mathematical odds on every available bet. overall your statement of so much money at the tournaments due to the 50 cents charge is true but that 50 cents was taken away from others just like you who do play in oklahoma casinos. lets also consider this. a lottery winner wins a million dollars and a million people lose millions of dollars. does that make the lottery a good thing? only for the winner, while millions of others have lost. only a few win in your tournament while many more lose and before that many more have lost in your oklahoma casinos. if the casinos had competition and no 50 cents tax your would benefit from it far more than you do now. a fine example is the offshore sports betting. before the advent of the offshore industry the local bookies and las vegas only let you bet on the major college games and pro sports. with the offshore industry one could even bet on tulsa university football and the total on the game. does anyone ever remember being able to bet on north texas university against tulsa university in a football game twenty years ago. before internet betting there was an average of 20 college football teams to bet on each week. after the internet betting came of age there were 50 college games a week and each game you could bet totals, 1st halfs, 2nd halfs, and many more options. the average weekend available bets during football season 20 years ago averaged about 50 different bets. last year the available number of possible bets was over 150 per weekend. that's a 300 percent increase. now that the usa has destroyed the offshore industry just wait to see how lousy bets are this season. if you refused to support any of the lousy casino odds in oklahoma and the tournaments the state of oklahoma would give you what you really want and need. competition among the casinos is the other way you will ever improve your gambling odds. one last thing- out of 100 entries in your tournament only a few finish in the money. meanwhile the other 94 people paid to stay at the casino hotels at about 70 dollars a day, ate at the casino dinner at 20 dollars a pop, and if you were foolish enough to pay the ante and dealer hitting soft 17's you lost another 50 to 100 dollars and that is on top of your 100 dollar plus entry fees! so if you can tell me that your tournaments and laws provide so much money then try this math. 6 out of one hundred people win 15,000 dollars. the other 94 lose 100 entry, pay another 100 for the room and food and that is if you don't pay the ante. so 94 times 200 equals 18,800 dollars for a net lost of about 22 percent to the 100 players who played in the tournament and a 22 percent vig. is for big time losers not smart gamblers! what company on the face of the earth can make 22 percent profit in one day? your oklahoma casinos do. and now for this final thought. coushatta casino in louisana pays out all the money it takes in when it has a tournament. the same 100 players pay 100 dollars entry and the same six people win 10,000 dollars but they get their rooms free and all of their food free. net lost for all 100 players is 10,000 dollars but net winning is 10,000 so there is no net lost for the 100 players for an even result. then the players can go play blackjack after and before the tournaments and get good conditions at the blackjack table which include single deck blackjack with all good rules on double downs, spliting pairs, and dealer stands on soft 17's. most of the players will only lose cents on the dollar. if one of you play in an oklahoma casino you will lose 50 cents on every hand and 2 more cents when the dealer hits soft 17! its all smoke and mirrors and oklahoma has blown a lot of smoke into your eyes. actually i wouldn't contribute to an organization who screws their own citizens and players. and i never will!

    we're not listening!

to anyone who thinks playing a losing game 16 hours a day is smart.

Let me know when you're flying your plane so I can stay on the ground!
