    OK Blackjack and $1 mil

It's getting close to play the $1mil tournament. The accumulation rounds are divided into two groups. The Monday/Wed group and Tues/Thurs. Total the chips for your two days and top 300 advance. The casinos web sites have all the particulars. The players pool so far for the next quarterly at Comanche Nation is $93000. Talk is that Oklahoma is going to Las Vegas stlye gaming. Which is good but also bad. It will do away with all the big money tournaments for such low entry. The casinos get to keep the money rather than give it back to the people. The only reason some people play is to make points for the tournaments.

For all of you that missed the upcoming $1mil tournament. The Comanche Nation and Red River casinos are having another $1mil for 2007. To qualify you must play in at least one of the quarterlies. The next quarterly ends Dec 31 and every three months after thru Sept 30, 2007. Here's a $1mil tournament no entry fee optional $100 add on. You can get into a quarterly by winning points in the free Tuesday Tournaments at Comanche Nation or the Tuesday tournaments at Red River ($23 fee $10 add on and $10 add on second round) earn you a point for entering, 2pts for second round and 3 pts for final table for a total of 6. You could actually make it to the $1mil tournament for nothing or as little as $33. Some of you guys just confuse me when you pay $1000's to play for less than I play for every 3 months. Over $100000 to 200000 respectively at CN and RR. My wife just wants to beat any or all of you big names.

The quarterly for Comanche Nation is set for Jan 7. Sign up Dec 16-31. Players pool last count $130000. This is the first qualifier for 2007 $1mil tournament. The $1mil tournament here at Comanche Nation has been moving along smoothly. 240 players. First round accumulation. 10-100 bets. 120 played on Monday then same group again on Wednesday. 120 played on Tuesday then same group again on Thursday. Start with 500 in chips optional up to $100 add on for 500 extra in chips. Some people not buying extra chips and many people not showing up. So far the highest chip count is 2000 down to 100 for 161st place. 79 zero scores. 120 advance. My wife in the top group me in the the top 1/3rd. The dealers have been pretty cruel to many. The guy with 2000 only lost 2 out of 30 and pushed a few. We'll see if I can make or hold on to my chips for my Thursday round. The other lady from this site made it to the top group like my wife too. Later, I'm off to watch tonights tables and hope for tough dealers.

Me and my wife have made it to the next round for Saturday. Now it's down to 120 players. Alot more serious playing involved now. The other lady from here made it too. Red River played 360 players down to 180. The final two rounds are at Red River. Goodluck to you going to Durant. Sign up for the quarterly at Red River starts Jan 1-18 was told over phone. I assume the tournament will be on Jan 21. I'll find out for sure later. Remember this is the start of the next $1mil quarterly qualifiers.

Congratulations, go get them this weekend!

Congratulations to you and your wife on making it to the final 120 players. Good Luck on Sat., hope you both cash BIG this weekend!

Question about next months quarterly sign-up, are you saying you need to come play and sign up Jan. 1st - 18th for the next quarterly OR do you have to play by Dec. 31st 2006 to be able to qualify for the next quarterly tournament?

I know last time when had to play prior to the quarterly sign-up dates.

You have till Dec 31 to make any credits. And Mar 31, June 30, and Sept 30. I still just don't understand how so many of you let this one slip by. Maybe some of you will make it for 2007.

    Why not more???

Maybe I can shed some light. First the person fortunate enough to win the grand prize must make 3 trips. One to get credits, one to play in the quarterly and one to play in the finals. I guess that in itself isn't too bad but it takes place in Oklahoma. Not to belittle Oklahoma, but it's not exactly the fun capital of the country (I'd rather be in Wisconsin) or the fun capital of any section of the country for that matter. What do you do when not gambling (I mean other than eating, sleeping, showering, and brushing teeth - OK, having sex too)? Then you have the "ante" in BJ and I assume other table games which can mount up if you play a lot. Next, not a lot of players live close to the casino. If you have to drive less than 4 hours (one way), is it worth a day trip? If you have to drive over 4 hours (one way), is it worth having to pay for a hotel room? If you have to fly in, is the additional cost worth it?

Now you take all those additional costs - which are part of your costs to play - and factor in the odds of succeeding and you may find that the EV just isn't there. I'm not trying to knock the tournament. It sounds great for those within a reasonable driving distance. But for long distance travel - well???

To put it another way, if this series of tournaments were held in Wisconsin (OK, Michigan - I mentioned Wisconsin before) or Maine (Maine?) would you attend?

In closing, I do wish everyone playing the best of luck. BRING HOME THE BACON.

PS: If I had access to a tournament like this in my area I too would be there come hell or high water. :D

I agree I wouldn't drive across country, but some here live close enough. Many here have drove and flown into the middle of no where (Ute Mountain Casino and others) to play. To make the trips here easier you can come and get qualified at the beginning of a quarter, come back three months later play in the quarterly, and then come back 12,9, or 6 months later to play in the Dec 2007 $1mil tournament. In the past couple weeks several here have been going to Durant for the WSOB seat and last year it was Tulsa. Still several are going back to Tulsa for there upcoming events. Oklahoma doesn't have much but it does have some big money tournaments for very little entry. The quarterly prize pools here still change till Dec 31, but as of 12-15 Comanche Nation $141000 and Red River around $200000 (alot of Texans giving their money away).

    Quarterly prize pool?

This isn't a typo is it? The quarterly prize is really about $130,000 and $200,000?

That may change my mind. I'll have to give this some serious thought. Thanks for the info.

Well none of us could make it. Me and my wife couldn't catch any luck. No matter what we did 3 or 4 winning hands only. There is always so many people that don't know what they are doing winning. That's the game. Try again next month for the quarterly at Comanche and Red River.

    BJMAILMAN:

I'm looking into the possibility of qualifying for one of the quarterlies for the $1 million tournament. I have a couple of questions if you have a minute.

    Question 1:
From reading most of the posts on this thread, this is what I understand about getting into the quarterlies for the $1 million tournament. Excluding the weeklies tournaments, play live BJ for an hour and receive 1 credit. If that's all you play, when you arrive for the quarterly you get 1 chip (worth $1 in tournament funny money). You can also buy $50 worth of chips for $50 cash.
    Is this correct?

    Question 2:
Can you get more than 1 chip for an hour's play if you play for higher stakes?

    Question 3:
It looks like everyone starts with different amounts in the quarterly. Is there a max for your starting bankroll?

    Question 4:
In the quarterlies, what is the min and max bets?

Red River 1-25 max. Comanche Nation 1st round 1-25 increases with each round.

You can get points by playing the Tuesday tournaments (Red River). 1 point just for entering, 2 more for second round and 6 total for making the final table. Haven't been there in a couple weeks you can call them 1-866-280-3261 ask for Blackjack. Comanche has a free Tuesday tournament starting at 1pm-11pm every odd hour for tournament points. 10 for 1st down to 5th. Start with 50, no limit, and 7 hands. Just a fun friendly quick time.

Thanks BJMAILMAN for the quick response. I'll have to pass on this tournament. My biggest problem is starting with a lot less than my opponents. Makes for a very uneven playing field which is probably why it's not attracting large number of players. Looks to me like this tournament is designed for the regular players. Infrequent or out-of-towners are playing with a big disadvantage. I saw from your previous posts that players with 1 chip have won a quarterly. However, the odds are stacked against them - big time.

The quarterly is not the point here it's getting your name in for the $1mil tournament. That tournament everybody starts off the same. If you're lucky for a quarterly you'll start at my table. So far the last four quarterlies the guy at my table with the lowest start (1-3 chips) has won the table. All of them made it into the money and two made it to the final table. This is at Comanche Nation. At Comanche Nation players are lined up from high to low at seats 2-7. Seat 2 would have hundred something and the rest would be low guys. With two advancing you don't have to get first, so often the high players bust themselves out. At Red River it's alittle different. Tables are lined up the same high to low, but they do have tables of all low chip counts. The last quarterly my wife started with 16 that was the high at the table and I had 6 for second with 10 as the high. The second round is when it gets brutal, because after that you're in the money. Most all are points came from playing the Tuesday tournaments. As far as attendance, to bad there wasn't less, at CN around 200 and RR over 300. RR always has more. It doesn't matter how many enter the prize money is already set. With the construction of the new casino across the street from RR there will more choices. RR and CN are just 25 minutes apart.

    Why not buy more?

    Question:
With such a low starting chip count, why didn't you or you wife purchase an additional 50 chips for $50? Or am I missing something?

We do purchase our $50. They're some that don't buy in. You could play your 1 chip and leave. But for $50 you get a chance at some good money. My wife was sick for one quarterly and went to play her 2 credits and leave. Her 2 went to 196 for second and then first at her table for the next round. Made it into the money but couldn't catch but two winning hands to make it to the final table.

    $6becomes $56

    BJMAILMAN:

So, when you say you start with say $6, you purchase the 50 chips for $50 and you actually start with $56 in funny money. Is this correct?

Hate to keep bothering you with these detail questions but I'm trying to get a solid grip on how things work down there.

Yes. Everybody starts with whatever they have earned and have the option to buy $1-50 worth of addittional chips. I had a person pull a wad of ones out and buy $16. Or a person buy as little as $7.
