I agree, high air and to high entrees, but still am going to April tournament. Stay at El Cortez, 3-2 single deck. Then we have Hard Rock and Paragon for rest of year.

    Hi Billy, Ken, et al.

The Paragon tournaments have been in the works for several months now and the management has committed to $100k in prize money over the three 2-day tournaments in June $30k (with a date change, if possible, due to inadvertently bumping into the recently scheduled Golden Nugget Vegas event on the same weekend), August $30k and October $40k. Although they are not fully complete at this time I’m familiar with the basic rules and I think they will be well received by the players – $100 to $120 buy –ins, 2 advance from 4 to 6 preliminary round tables, lots of wild cards throughout, etc. Details will be posted at www.BJTUSA.com as soon as they are complete and the gaming commission has approved them.

    What is BJTUSA.com, you ask…

Billy, as you know, I’ve been attempting to proactively promote Open Blackjack Tournaments for the last few years via text message and email notification of upcoming events to a pretty extensive list of interested tournament players. Plus, I’ve been approaching casino properties regarding how they can leverage our community of committed players to offer some assurances that they can attract enough participants to make their tournaments successful.

All along I knew that lengthy text messages, and even e-mails to some extent, were cumbersome and a less than desirable manner of delivering the notifications. Some months back I decided that to better do my small part to help proactively keep Open Blackjack Tournaments alive it would be more successful if I could have a site to refer the list of players to, with the more lengthy notifications to reside at the site, just a click away from the text…….. And, to give all players a 24/7 site to go to for tournament dates and other pertinent tournament information, between notifications. For now, I’m only trying to keep up with tournaments that are in the central part of the Country, although due to a number of players who play the Golden Nugget Vegas I plan to start placing their tournaments in the schedule Calendar at the site.

This is not a competitor to blackjacktournaments.com, a site that I consider to have the best forum for Blackjack Tournament players to communicate through. BJTUSA.com is strictly a vehicle to simplify notification of upcoming events to players and to more effectively utilize in my effort to show casino properties how our committed community of Blackjack Tournament players can cooperatively offer more assurance that they can attract more participants and therefore hold successful Open Blackjack Tournament events.

My sincere thanks to you and everyone who supports Open Blackjack Tournaments!

    PitchMan,
I really hope that you receive more credit than this for your tireless efforts re the promotion of bj tournaments. Nobody recently has done more in that regard than you have.
It pains me that geography makes most of the events distance prohibitive for me. You KNOW that I'd love to be there. I'm hoping that it becomes possible to piggyback some events in the south. I could then justify the trip/trips.
Thanks for your continued good work!

I second. ////////////////third and fourth....Pitchman's efforts. 1,000% more effective and productive than the promises of a many years ago BIG Talker!

I find myself in the same position as Billy C with regards to travel. But Paragon is only six more hours than Buffalo Run, so if turnout is critical, I may just make the effort.

Hey Billy and noman, Thank you so much for the kind words.

And........ Have I (possibly), got a deal for you! (And johnr, this also seems like something right down your alley)...

I just got word that the first Paragon $30k Open Blackjack Tournament date has been moved to July 8th & 9th.

I first have to give so much credit to Paragon management for going through hoops to work through the scheduling required by their various departments, and individuals to make this happen (I'd love to feel free to name names to give them adequate credit but I don't think it proper to do in this forum). I just brought to their attention last Saturday that the Golden Nugget has scheduled one of their Blackjack Tournaments for June 9-10-11. This caused a collision with Paragon's originally scheduled first tournament of the year, again, to be held on June 10-11. It's only taken a calendar week, and I'm sure many hours by the several folks who had to be involved for this to be accomplished. I think we can probably agree that it is most uncommon to have this kind of response. I can think of only one tournament director who, widely known or not, repeatedly made such an effort to make it good for the players, and until now, not since she understandably moved to greener pastures. (If I was a betting man I'd bet that there are several of us who'd come up with the same name if charged to guess who that director was, and in what part of Oklahoma where she worked her trade). :)

Now for what may address the "piggy back" requirement to make feasible traveling the distance to play the July 8-9 Paragon tournament. The next weekend, on July 15 is the $25k Hard Rock tournament.

    Does this help?

Addendum to my post immediately above:

I apologize for not having my ducks in a row when I posted the above. I just realized that there is another potential "piggy back" situation in August. The $30k (Largest of the series of their three tournaments), Hard Rock Blackjack Tournament is on August 19th. and the 2nd in the series Paragon $30k Blackjack Tournament is the following weekend, August 26th & 27th.

    I hope this helps also.

Definitely! Can I presume that both of these are "open" tournaments? Hard Rock is at Biloxi, right?
I can't commit until checking my calendar, etc. but let's say that I'm thinking that I'm probably in for doing this trip.

That's great. It'd be nice if you, noman and johnr could come play them, There may be several others from longer distances that this arrangement would work for. It's a good bit of prize exposure in just over a week. And lots of fun :)

They are both open tournaments and the Hard Rock is in Biloxi. Approx 232 miles/approx 3;45 from each other.

I sure hope it works out. It'd be great to see you again.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Hey Billy, Todd just spoke to Ron the Director of Tournament and they are at 52 as of today! If he hits 60 it will be a for sure 8000 that the casino kicks in. BTW we ended up finding a really inexpensive flight rather than drive the 8 hours one way. But we are leaving out of MSP, Ron at the casino will pick up any one that flies and bring them to the casino.
    Thanks
