As you know, the tournament listings have been a complete mess for a long time. I would guess that 95% of the listed events no longer exist. My proposal is to mark as cancelled effective Dec 31, 2018 every event that has not been updated by one of our users in the last six months. This would be done manually, by me and anyone else who wants to chip in. (We would want to work at different times to avoid collisions in effort.) That would at least prevent most of the false positives. Thoughts?
Even though this doesn't affect me (I edit search settings to show me only medium and major tournaments), I think it's an excellent idea. It would make it much easier to identify valid tournaments. Would you do this once or twice a year? Thanks for your efforts!
I regularly update the Fallsview Blackjack 21 tournament wjth all dates for the coming year all at once. Maybe the criteria should be that there are no dates pending and none in the past 6 months as opposed to 6 months without an update.
I canceled about 15 events. I'll try to do a few more each day for a while. In general, my method was to see when it was last updated, and in some cases, glance at the casino web site to see if the event is still listed.
OK, the great purge is complete. I removed 30 or more weekly and monthly events that I could find no evidence for. I reviewed every listed event, and only left those that I found some reason to believe. That means it was either recently updated, or I found a mention on the casino's website. The calendar currently has no false positives that I am aware of. There may still be errors of course, but it is a big improvement. I hope you'll all find it more useful as a result.
Ken, Orleans Las Vegas still has tournaments Saturday and Sunday I have checked and not found anything on their website but I played 6/1 and 6/2
Thanks for the update. I just reinstated both. Feel free to update details if needed via the calendar.
