Is there any word on a WSOB Season Five? It seems to me that last year at this time there were qualifying rounds at casinos around the US. I still find myself watching episodes on the TIVO, but I must be in the minority. Any thoughts?

No word, and that's not a good sign. I think it is reasonable to assume at this point that season five has been scrapped.

This sure isn't good for TBJ. Not only is WSOB's fifth season in limbo, but UBT has a number of shows "in the can" with no clue if they'll ever be broadcast. There are also rumors running rampant that their big Barona final table will not be televised at all. :(

    No more WSOB

It is a pretty good bet that the WSOB is no more as Ken Smith said,as interesting & exciting as it was to participate in WSOB IV,the overall excitement from epsode to episode was lacking. It is tough for any producer to make something out of nothing if the cast of characters don't show some sort of enthusiasm.Example, the winner of WSOB IV (whom is a very nice individual) showed little if any excitement upon winning 1/2 mil.If the participants don't show excitement, how could the viewing public possibly be excited & tune in from week to week? At the end of the day, play in your local tournaments & whenever you can in Vegas or Tunica, etc.,& enjoy it to the fullest.

I totally disagree with the comment of not being excited after I won $550,000. The final table was actually very exciting and the audience was truly in it!! I know this, because I am a true gambler!!! I get a chance to travel to many casinos throughout the nation and I run into so many people who stated how exciting it was to see the WSOB and the final table. People who I have never met before and just remember me from the show!!

I believe the problem came in with the other rounds!!! Some were exciting and some were not.

Actually, I had a bit of good news this week, just after arriving in Mexico. I got a phone call from someone with recent communications with GSN about the future of WSOB. The word is that the program is NOT cancelled, though it quite apparently won't be filmed on the same schedule as previous seasons. So, hopefully the next season is merely delayed rather than cancelled.

Word is that recent ratings weren't bad, and that's a great sign.

    That is possible good news

I hope they do host the WSOB again, it is the most fun events I've ever played in, and the money isn't to bad either...LOL

With some of the recent dire goings-on in the TBJ community, this is excellent news!!! :celebrate

The fat lady hasn't sung yet!

I double checked and the WSOB doesn't have a fork in the WSOB yet, but at the present time there is no plans for the show.

Remember GSN just got a new CEO and I am sure a few changes were made, after things settle down over there maybe we get the WSOB back, I am hoping anyway.

GSN has really, from what I remember, improved their web page. If I were them I would put a GSN BJT up for freerolls to the next series or better yet a big tournament to get to WSOB ;)

    The future

I have to admit if not for WSOB that I would not be playing tournament blackjack. I played blackjack, very poorly I might add, but I didn't know anything about tournaments. I found myself watching every episode and trying to keep up with the strategy involved. We need the WSOB to continue for the sake of tournament blackjack. I want to see the popularity continue, but sometimes I feel like I arrived late to the party.
