    Just contact me...

Tourny man42, just contact me by PM and I'll be more then glad to help you organize a quality tournament that players would be interested in coming to play in.

I have surveys from over 800 players, as to their likes and dislikes for, formats and rules. I have tried for years and still trying to get an established format and rules for blackjack tournaments so these events can grow and prosper simular to those in TX Hold'em.

How can tournament blackjack players expect blackjack tournaments to every excel when formats and rules change from casino to casino. If we were to unite and and support the events the casinos will offer them for us, but until we can show the casinos we do have the following, why should they give us what we want?

    What players want

I think what players want depends greatly on the individual - most of the players on this site want a tournament format that allows for skilled play, and see bj tournaments as a challenge which should require and reward skilled play - as poker tournaments do -

for many casual players, not serious or learned about tournaments, they want to have fun and a chance to win -

BJ tournaments have a very large luck component - any player, regardless of skill level, can get lucky and win - but there is also a skill component, and in the long run, the more skilled players will be rewarded.

a properly set up tournament can satisfy both the serious, skilled player and the 'just having fun' player. The key is to create a format and rules which are consistant, fair, and honest, which allow for skill to be applied, but where even the less skilled can have fun - Rick's rules and format do that -

remember that rebuy opportunities are important, and fair value for the entry fees, and a cleanly run tourney - again - Rick can give great advice

    Wild Cards

I should've added to my earlier post that, though I'm not not a big fan of wild cards, if they'll help the casino make money so they can offer a tournament I can live with them.

They're not as objectionable as one-advance tables, leader boards, or accumulation rounds.

The TBJPA format is about as good as it gets.

    - all two or three-advance tables
    - 3:2 BJ's
    - surrender
    - insurance, including on BJ's
    - double for less allowing half chip increments
    - four or six-deck face up orientation, face up double down cards
    - double anything, double after split, double allowed on BJ
    - max bet 1/3 to 1/2 starting bankroll
    - no gimmicks, such as secret bet, no max bet, mulligans, elimination hands, etc.
    - rebuys available
