  2. The Gulfport Grand has a weekly 3-card tournament on Wednesdays for about the same entry fee but I don't think the prize money is quite that large.
    It may be but I don't think that first place earned quite $1,500 in the last one I played. That would seem to indicate that there wasn't 5K in the total pool. Unfortunately, I don't know what the rest of the final table made since I wasn't on it. I did make the semi's when I was fortunate enough to hit a flush on the last hand with a max bet out on the pair plus but the luck did not carry over to my semi-final table.

    Gulfport Three-Crad Info

    Gulfport's Wed. Three-Card Tourney has a $4250.00 prize pool. 1st is $2000, 2nd $1000, then i'm not sure, but they pay 7 places. It's a $20 entry per round, with 3 qualifying rounds, semi's, then the finals. First round is at 6pm, but if you want to get in the first round, you need to register by 4:30 or so.

  4. I played this Biloxi 3 card tourny last week. I am pretty sure it filled up to capacity. I registered pretty early and they were already telling the registration table to only register enough for three more tables. I managed to win my opening round table fairly easily thanks to getting some good cards on the last five hands. In the semifinal round, I got passed on the last hand when I had nothing to play and my two closest competitors got pairs. Oh well, at least I didn't have to invest in a rebuy and I had fun.

    i was there - i was the tall, dark and ugly guy (Got 3rd place). Who were you? -- Jimmy

  6. I was the guy with longish brown hair, sorta thin on top, and a beard. I think I was still dressed for the conference so I had on a blue button down shirt and khaki pants. I played the first round and the semis but went and played VP during the rebuy. Once I got put out, I went to eat instead of staying to watch.

    I can't say I remember you, but did you know that there was a wild card drawing to the finals? Do you plan on coming again to any of the Thursday tourneys?

  8. I completely forgot about the wild card. Tell me that it was not someone named Ray. :p I was staying at the Grand for a conference that week and had some co-workers I needed to network with so I guess that is why I forgot. I will hopefully be able to get down there some during our Christmas break (education). I am only 3 hours north of Biloxi but a turnaround trip is still pretty strenuous, especially if you are fortunate enough to make the final table. I did it a few times last spring when I was trying to get ready for the Hilton and will probably do it again some this spring but I don't have the stamina to do it too regularly. Of course, then I will be coming for some of the weekly BJ tournaments instead of 3 card.

    I'm not sure if you know this, but in Biloxi, they alternate 3-card and BJ each week. The 3-card starts registration at 3pm and the BJ at 5pm. You must preregister for all events. I find it easier to simply preregister for all the events for each month at one time. They will be skipping a few Thursdays in December, by the way.

    Gulfport is 3-card every week and registration is first come -first served. Every Wednesday, registration at 4:30pm (and don't be late, they are filling every week now).

    By far and away, Biloxi is the better deal due to more money, and less total entry fees. Gulfport, when filled, is actually a $370 underlay. The last round usually doesn't fill, but lately, they have added many compted players, so things are getting busier.

    I don't remember a RAY being called for the finals....:}:}
