Good morning all. Since everything locked down in March seems longer ago than it has been and all those places we got to spend time with each other seem so much further away than they did when we’d so regularly travel to them. The 4 to 8 hour drives for me didn’t seem so long because of my anticipation of being able to compete with and spend time with my friends. We are and I hope you and yours are okay. I look forward to again sitting across the table from you, trying to send you to the re-buy line , or standing behind you cheering you on to advance in hopes we will meet at the final table. Stay safe so we can hopefully do that very soon.

    PitchMan,
Good to hear from you. It has been a long time from seeing BJT friends. We have been going to Local Kansas Crossing, Downstream, and Buffalo Run. Talked to Kansas Crossing about having another heads up tournament, you could probably have some input on that. I mostly have been staying home hunting raccoons LOL. We do have the Venitian tournaments, just Dakota and I as far as I know. I had never been there, my regular host got me hooked up.
Best wishes to all my tournament friends.

Hi Billy. I haven’t heard from Cindy since before they re-opened. At that time things were a bit in the air but they had all been paid and it sounded like she’s been treated well by management. I sent her a text this morning and have not heard back yet. I’ll certainly pass along anything I learn.

We may never put together a tournament weekend quite like that one. But I think we were very lucky to get to keep her for 4 years. I was always concerned about when, not if, someone was going to see what she brings to a casino operation and snatch her from Miami. Maybe one day when they can safely put 6 or 7 at a table again we may get another good one like that going.

Follow up to Billy, John R from above, and to all of you who played the Buffalo Run tournament or who otherwise know Cindy.

She called me yesterday and as luck would have it I was unable to answer. But, she did leave a long voice mail. She reported that she is doing fine there in Tucson, just working long hours trying to navigate a safe re-opening of all table games and the poker room at Casino Del Sol. Outside of work it sounds like she’s doing as so many of us are – Staying in, groceries delivered or curbside pickup, etc. She said the casino has so many safety precautions in place that she’s probably safer there than anywhere else outside her house that she goes. She asked me to say hello and send her best to every one of the many of you who know her. She said that discussions of starting up a Blackjack Tournament were underway when this Covid-19 chaos popped up, and when things get back to “normal” she’s sure they will be looking to get one started. Normal sure sounds nice. It’s a long way to Tucson but Normal with a good Blackjack Tournament that Cindy put together sounds even nicer :)

A Cindy-run tournament in Tucson sounds good to me! We will all be ready for a long road trip.

Again, why did those Buffalo Run tournaments end that Cindy used to run?

I believe it was just that Cindy left for another opportunity.

I will note that the Buffalo Run tournaments grew to $50K prize pools in 2017, but that only lasted one year.
I assume they were not getting the side action to justify the larger prize pool and went back to $30K afterwards.
Although I only attended one event there, it was a great venue and event.
