With a little help from Google, I found the following - The Isle Casino is in Coventry, within the Ricoh Stadium. It's US-owned, part of the Isle of Capri group. I confess I'd never heard of it, but it claims to be the largest casino in the UK - http://www.ricoharena.com/the-isle.htm The brief tournament description makes it sound like it may be an accumulation format, but it's hard to be sure. I've asked for more information via a web form. Is there any uniformity to the types of tournament offered by Isle of Capri casinos in the US, which might give us a clue what to expect over here?
Bound to be accumulation. Still, there's skills required in that format, especially in the end game. Just ask Toolman
Reachy, I fear you may be right, but I thought it worth enquiring. And, being American-owned, they should at least know what we are talking about if we suggest they should run some elimination BJTs. Not that Coventry is exactly convenient, but beggars can't be choosers. And, if I may twist the knife a little, you can visit the casino when you go to watch Derby County play there, next season.
Fear not. Learn to play this format properly and you will advance to the semi/final table more often than elimination alone.
Well I got no reply beyond what was probably an automated response, saying that my inquiry had been 'directed to the appropriate personnel for processing'. Evidently the appropriate personnel had better things to do. In any case, looking at the web page where I first found this, it seems that the weekly BJ tournament has now been replaced by a weekly Mah Jong tournament!
