    Smokin at Harrah's

There were multiple "final" tables and you had no idea what everyone was doing. Will never do another tournament with multiple final tables.

Early drawing was also given to anyone who signed in before noon that day. Regulars had signed up in Sept/Oct to ensure the numbers were there

    Different ballgame in KC

My brother had to go to KC for a meeting this past Monday and had me ride along with him. We stayed at the Harrah's in N. KC (nice hotel). We got in close to midnight and just crashed (about 9 hour drive).

The next morning we went downstairs to eat and my brother ask me if I want to go check out the casino. We went in and it is loaded with machines and few tables, but the tables they have stink.

One game was called Blackjack + 3, it was regular blackjack with a side bet to play your first two cards and the dealers up card as your 3 card poker hand.

Now heres the real kicker, the payouts for the 3 card only pays on a flush, straight, 3 of a kind, or straight flush and ALL the pay outs are the same (9 to 1).

It maybe the worst game I've ever seen, and yet all the players were not only playing both bets, they were actually playing more on the 3 card poker bet, go figure. I saw one guy betting $10 on blackjack side and $15 on the 3 card poker side. At one point he won 10 straight hands on blackjack and lost money on every hand.

At one point the dealer asked me if I'd like to play, I just laughed and politely decline his offer. The dealers and casino didn't even wear a mask or use a gun, the players were just handing over the money.

So offering games like that, I can only imagine how they ran the tournament. Oh well live and learn.

The weekly tournaments are well run and were almost always full until the last couple of months. And that's been because of the economy more than anything. The pit boss and dealers are generally excellent as they have been dealing the tournament format for a couple of years. The regulars still show up every week.

You're lucky you didn't have to buy a players card just to enter the casino. That law was voted out in November along with the $500 loss limit.
