Not much going on in the FORUM so I figured I'd ask a few "WHY" questions. Yes I'm boared and my wife is watching TV --- that means "no" to all you bachelors :juggle: .

    1) WHY do casinos print tournament rules then tell you they don't apply or they changed?

    2) WHY do casinos announce a tournament then tell you they are not taking reservations "at this time"?

    3) WHY do casinos announce a BJ tournament then tell you they have no details or to get rid of you, say "poker rules apply"?

    4) WHY do casinos have re-buys when, sometimes, they don't know what to do with the extra players?

    5) WHY don't some tournament supervisors know what a "wild card" is?
(to be fair, they don't use them in their tournaments)

    6) WHY are some BJ dealers "stone cold" then wonder why they aren't getting any tips?

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?

Whatever I missed, feel free to post your "WHY" questions.

    More "WHY" questions.

Toolman you can go crazy trying to fiqure out why casinos do things that don't make much sence.

I think the biggest problem is they have to many chiefs and not enough indians and the chiefs never tell the indains what is going on and we only get to talk to the indians.

Here are a few more "Why" questions to think about.

    1. Why don't the casinos allow "ALL" players to play in their entry fee tournaments? I can understand not allowing them in the VIP events, but if they are willing to pay their entry fee to play it just make their tournament bigger and better.

    2. Why don't the casinos charge a fee to play in the tournaments to cover their expences and return 100% of the entries and re-buys as prize money?
It would cover their expence and no questions to how much they took out.

    3. Why don't the casinos use some type of sign-in card at the tables so the players and host will both know what the players time and avg. bet is? It would really help when it comes to get comps, no questions.

    4. Why do the casino hotels almost always try to charge you for the bottle water or some thing from the mini bar at checkout? Guess they just don't make enough from the casinos...LOL.

    5. Why don't the casinos realize that they would get more players if they didn't offer such top heavy tournaments? Change their payouts to more players winning instead of one big winner like poker does.

    6. Why don't casinos offer the big "Live" money tournaments like they use to? I use to play in tournaments with over 600 players, now their lucky to pull in 250 for a tournament.

    7. Why doesn't the casino just sent a plain letter invitation instead of the 5 color brochures and put the saving into the prize money.

    8. Why do casinos give us "Special tournament gifts" when they could just put that money into the prize pool? I've got a closet full of shirts, hats, luggage...ect.

    9. Why don't casinos offer a "Bonus" if the tournament winner is staying at their hotel? This would get more players staying at their property.

    Why

The existential answer is "Why not?"

Market anything, promise anything, even if it doesn't make sense, or isn't what was promised...people will come.

Howmmmever,,the generation running things today,(that is half way intelligent and affeeered of their jobs), do what they are told by their superiors, based on the best statistical "intelligence."

Numbers don't lie. There is safety in stating that the numbers "say." But interpretation of the numbers takes experience and analytical thinking.

If all you have to do, to keep a job is do what you're told. why think?

There are enough casual and conventionairre players to fill the casinos expectations. They don't need, nor do they want a thinking player.

A former casino manager. I believe on THE RADIO SHOW with NORM! and Kennye(forgive me, if I'm wrong...maybe I just made it up..) stated an analytical case for letting supposed card counters play and at former deck penetration, etc, cause the wager per hour benefitted the casino.

All the new stop gaps for the few fortunate on the up curve, was actually cutting into the casinos win per hour. But, as everyone knows, not one casino cares about that. They'd rather spend their profits trying to hunt down and bar the one to two percent of players who actually think they know what the're doing.

Best to all in the high point of the expectation curve. For the rest, may we live long enough to ride out the storm and hoist the sails again.
