Is Harrah's sold (12/20/06)?

A relative told me she saw on the news today that Harrah's accepted a buyout of some $17 Billion - that's $17,000,000,000 and that's a lot of chips, coin, bucks, smackers, whatever! (sorry, didn't mean to sound like noman)

Does anyone know if this is true? I knew there were offers but the latest I heard was Harrah's was considering the offers with nothing definite.

The Las Vegas Advisor (Anthony Curtis) web site states its a done deal and even includes the price per share of stock.

Actually Toolman the purchase price is 27.8 billion, $27,800,000,000 including the assumption of $10,700,000,000 debt.

My understanding from about a month ago is that these organizations have no experience in the gaming industry. If so, would they keep the key personnel from the Harrah's group to keep things on track or do they have other plans - does anyone have a hint of things to come?

If they are trying to over come a $10,700,000,000.00 debt they may not want to keep the same key personnel...LOL

And Ace unless Harrah's is willing to sellout to me for $1,070.00 (only 1/10,000,000th of the current price)I don't think I'll have enough to buy them this week...LOL

First you figure out the math for us on how much better it is for us to buy 2-500 poker chip sets over 1-750 poker chip set.

Secondly you figure out what you would offer Harrah's to buy them out. Your brain must be in mega overload right now from all that math. lol

I was just in Vegas & the word on the street seems to be that the new owners intend to sell the individual casinos.The old divide & conquer.In this case they believe the sum of the parts are greater than the whole.Luxor

A breakup makes sense when you consider the buy-out is by investment groups, not people in the gaming industry. Just have to wait and see what happens.

Get your pennies together. This may be your only chance to buy Caesars Palace. You can turn it into a BJ tournament heaven. You blew the chance to buy a gambling boat a while back. Don't blow this one. :D

General comment:
The pending sale of the Harrah's Group may explain why the number of BJ tournaments seems to be declining. Also, I haven't heard anything about a "millionaire maker" series for 2007. I guess speculation will abound now. If nothing else it will be interesting to watch events unfold - or maybe "unravel" is a more appropriate word. :confused:
 
How much?

I remember when a billion meant a million million not a thousand million. So a billion to me would be a thousand billion to you!!!! Actually that used to be true but now we have adopted the US system for designating billions. Anybody know of any "old-fashioned" billionaires (i.e. thousandbillionaires)?

Well, it's good to hear you Brits have come round to our American way of thinking on the "billion" issue. How are we doing on that misguided notion that one must climb stairs to reach the "first floor"?

PS. And what is it with you guys and "automatic" cars? How many of you drive "stick"? I'd guess about 90% of the UK population drive cars with "manual" gearboxes for a comparison.
