my game is SO much better after this week of marathon play.

That's just scary! Another chapter for your book maybe?

Incidentally I think I read on the UBT site that you are ranked no.1 by All In magazine and HD is ranked 7th. Who is 2nd - 6th?

Uncle Joe

If you were to stay in my home you have to sleep in Hollywood's room, is that a problem ?

His room is full of different color hair dyes
Blow up sex dolls in between a naked stripper or two
A closet full of Retro clothing
A pile of hate mail from Tex (Unread I might add)

Joep

Hey its no problem if the strippers arent from CipNdales and the blowups arent Richard Hatch replicas. Lets make this real clear, if your room is Daves room forgetaboudit. Ill seep along the fwy east of town. ;)

Thanks Joe

What are these rankings based on? Apart from the obvious ones do any of these contribute to the forum under alias'?

Cheers

Reachy, provisional ranking #3978

The ALL IN pre-season tournament player rankings were based upon previous accomplishments and weighted by more recent results.

Norm Sheridan post here as Norm 21

Do you think that if I change my name to Ken I might get better at TBJ? Could even be 3rd best in the world!

Please clarify what you are referring to as a "final table"

I was under the impression that there were two (2) final tables for each "main event" 2700 buy in events.

Are you now telling me that a "final table" also consists of the 7 people who make it at the 540 tables?

If that is the case will the preliminary UBT match ups at Barona count?

It is also my understanding that the ranking system recently published was based on LAST YEARS/SEASONS private invite only tourneys is that correct? Therefore any points earned from St. Kitts and Aruba should not be reflected in the current rankings.

Furthermore the points that were gained from the weeklong SNG were only applied to see who would gain the free entry into an upcoming UBT stop and will NOT be included into the ranking system.

Joe, am I correct in the above assumptions?

ALL IN player points

the initial list of top 10 players was only a preview/prediction list, and not meant to be a mathematically perfect list. The current list you see in All In (complete with specific points and dollar amounts won) are ONLY inclusive of REAL MONEY buy in events (ie no freerolls or invitationals) during Aruba and St Kitts.

Additionally, they DO NOT include sit-n-gos or any online events... so for Aruba, that means the 2 $540 events and the 2 final tables of the $2500 event, and in St Kitts that only includes the 3 $540 event and the ONE final table of the $2500 event (turnout was a bit lower than expected so they didn't want to divide up the prizepool any further).

in the near future, All In expects to use results from ALL major tournaments, not just UBT events. The latest issue of all in should have all the details...

I thought KenE was the "WORLD CHAMPION"????

How exactly does one win THIS title?

And what does the guy (anybody remember him or her) who won last year call themselves?

I need to know cuz....I WANNA BE WORLD CHAMP SOMEDAY...

BTW..I read all the books....except for "PLAY TO WIN" vol2 which Im still waiting for from BET 21...

Anyone wanna take a side bet as to when this baby will arrive??? Im taking the day before vol 3 is released...all other dates are open though...

Rankings:

Well, while it's nice for someone to be Super Bowl winner, World Serious champ for a year, in a standardized format, I don't see Eddie Robinson, or Sammy Vaughn complaining about not getting over the top accolades. Nor do I see a John Merritt, who cleaned up so often at so many venues in the past pitchin a fit over not getting recognition.

So, while it's "nice" to have worked out a formula and distribute braggin rights, it's all as fleeting as that one night stand.

Now, I do appreciate A.C.'s explanation and tough determination of "how to" get the current list UP. But, I'm cornfused. Cause, I thought, from the Ken Smith cover issue, that Sit N gos counted. Otherwise, how did THE LEGEND get points and then, (typo?) how is he listed in two different spots?

I need some help here for a couple of reasons:

1. I STILL haven't gotten my edition of All-In yet so I'm going by the ranking that Joep posted.

2. Since the All-In came out (edition 1) BEFORE Aruba - how could the point totals from Aruba and St Kitts be factored into the All-In ranking?

3. Are the people who win a seat at the final table awarded any points? If no why not? Didn't they have to beat out a field of like 1000 to get that seat? But since it is a freeroll then maybe it shouldn't be included?

4. Is the point system clearly explained in the magazine?

5. There was only one (1) final table 2700 in St Kitts? Not two (2)???

6. Assuming the final table at the 540 events and final table(2) for the 2700 are used how come I don't get the (nine) 9 final tables that Joep keeps writing about?

540 final - Aruba (1)
2700 final table - Aruba (2)
2700 final table - Aruba (3)
540 final table - Aruba (4)
540 final table - St. Kitts (5)
540 final table - St. Kitts (6)
540 final table - St. Kitts (7)
2700 final table - St. Kitts (8)

Please help me lift the fog gentlemen.

This Should Help

OK lets see if I can help in everyone understanding this

The initial top 10 players that All-In Magazine had was a pre-season list that was put together based upon past performances in the tournament world, it was not etched in stone but they was no one on that list that didn't have a just cause to be there .Yes there were some players who have had success and were not included but the list was only 10 players long. The initial list was just a way to introduce the All-In Player ranking system and to make the 10 of us all targets to knock off or to point out that we are no longer on the list once the points started to be earned. So being there has its downfalls not being on the list gives those players an incentive to make sure they make the list. This has been something that most tournament players have been asking for for the last 5 years or so.

If you were to read Anthony Curtis's column in regards to this system he states that after the first year we will revisit the ranking system and make what ever changes need to be made to it if any,but this as it stands now is better than anything we have ever had before and it very fair as it includes any and all sanctioned events.

Invitational tournaments will not be sanctioned even if they are UBT invitational. To be sanctioned the host casino must be willing to report accurate results and players names who have made the semi finals and beyond with prize money awarded.

The minimum entry fee for sanctioned tournaments will be $99 .This will make most mini tournaments not eligible for the ranking system . If they were we would need a staff of 500 to keep all results recorded and accurate.

This also might encourage casinos all over the country to start hosting tournaments with at least a $99 entry fee as they will receive free publicity from All-In magazine .

That was a major consideration in deciding where to make the entry fee cutoff. As we have nothing but the players benefit in mind here.

Now on to the 9 Final tables that seem to have some members here confused

There were 2 2700 Final tables in Aruba (Points eligible)
There were 2 540 Final tables in Aruba ( Points eligible)
There was 1 2700 Final table in St Kitts (Points eligible)
There were 3 540 Final tables in St Kitts (Points eligible)
There was 1 50,000 Free-Roll in St Kitts (Not eligible for points) Invite

That is where the 9 final tables that I mentioned came from

The INTERNET winners are given points for their final table appearance as they have beaten a sizable field to get there and are now playing in an event that was open to all.

Dear Joe,

I wanted to know and you provided the answers - thank you great explaination. Sorry for being so confused - not having my All In issue is definately a handicap.

Since you're in the know the top 10 list will be updated when? Each issue of All In? If that is the case then I would expect that two of the names on the list would likely fall off since they didn't participate in the UBT events - am I correct?

Hey whenever you come up with a list it's bound to change right? I mean look at the college football polls! Florida State and Miami were in the top 10 before the season and look at them now. So why should this be any different right?

Here's to you keeping your position and maybe moving up. To all the other BJT.com members on the list - congratulations and don't forget us little guys down here!

PS - Hey Joep - will the tourneys taking place at Barona in January qualify for points too?

Only 2 Missing

In every new issue of All-In the player ranking system will reflect any and all changes that have occurred since the last publication.

The two players that were initially listed of course will not appear on the current list until they have played and earned points for this current year.

One of the players was scheduled to go to Aruba but a pending house closing and moving prevented that from happening, the other player as far as I know seems to have retired for tournament play ;) .

If any one knows different please let us all know as he is a well respected player and his past accomplishments have more than earned him his well deserved place on this impressive list.

Rankings:

Hey, I'm all for it. As Joe said, it provides targets to shoot for. I know, I read A.C's explanation and the considerations they considered. Thanks for how in the nine tourneys points were awarded. Now, How did the Legend show up in two spots? And what did he win or not win?

you're still not getting my phone number, Rando....lol

btw, the snowman at the end of your movies is very Hitchcock. methinks you may have a career ahead of you in cartoon film directing...
