Joep said:Here is an idea I would like to run by you guys.Your feedback on this will help in the direction that we need to make this work.
I was was thinking about a tournament that ran for 12 months and qualified a certain amount of players to the BIG end of year event. But that could cause attendance to drop off once players qualified. It would be on a smaller scale to the original Hilton Million Dollar Tournament. that tournament qualifed 18 players per month. The problem would be we would lose the qualified players in the months after they have qualified. So I believe that type of tournament has to be planned for later on when we have a solid core of players who will support this.
We saw what happen with Ricks attempt at this and we could all learn from his experience.
One of the requirment would be the casino would have to put X amount of players in the event,we as the players association would put in the rest.
The casino will collect a small fee based upon the entry fee
There will be no players assocation fee for now, I will be more than happy to donate my time to get this running.Once we are up and running we can elect a board of directors .They will then decide if they should be a players yearly fee to cover what ever cost are incurred. I believe that we can limit our cost through just getting the word out among our community. The casino will market this on thier end to their players.
The casino end would be the guarantee prize pool
Our end would add to the prize pool.
Now there is the format to talk about and I would like to throw this out for feedback
I was thinking about calling it the " Tournament Challenge" similar to the HORSE event in poker where the player play different games of poker. Why not do this for a blackjack tournament
We would have 3 differnt formats to play in the same tournament
Opening rounds would be your typical tournament format with set amount of hands and advancing 2 players per table
Once we played down to 12 players
Semi Finals would be 12 players and then the format would revert to heads up between the 12 players with 6 moving on to the final table
I would like to see the Final table be a match play where all players will be playing the same hand against the dealer hand.Your actions and betting order would go in order of the button, this will allow the last two rounds for skillful play and showcase the skill of this game.
Also how about suggestions as to what casino I should approach with this idea come the early part of 2008
Should it be a strip Casino?
Should it be an off strip casino? like Gold Coast or Tuscany
Should it be a local casino on Boulder Highway or Sunset Station or the Suncoast?
