My Tribute to the late great Charles "BIG CHUCK" Gorson
I have given some good thought to my tribute to the late Charles “Big Chuck” Gorson. I had the pleasure of knowing him since his son James is one of my best friends. I remember driving on the interstate with James on one Sunday afternoon when James was planning a pickup of Chuck at the airport in Fort Lauderdale as he was planning on coming into town to see his family. James promptly answered his phone and was extremely enthusiastic to speak with Chuck. He answered his phone “Chuck, how are you buddy? They had a conversation which lead them to reflect on a personal experience that they shared. The conversation on James’s end was clearly apparent that he was speaking with a good friend of his. Upon the conclusion of their call, I had to ask James who he was speaking with. Of course his response was that was my dad.
I share this story with you because the point I am trying to bring out is that “Big Chuck” was everyone’s friend. He was a good friend to all, especially his children. They all appreciated and cherished the friendship he gave them over the years, and that quality or trait is going to continue to live on in years to come through his children. We all will miss “Big Chuck” but will never forget him as we will continue to see his spirit live on through the lives of the people he has touched.
