Agreed, the $5K BJ will be easier simply due to fewer entries.

However, one conundrum still remains unanswered. As a second-class customer (can't join), why can I get into the poker freerolls for $10K seats - but I can't do the same for the similar BJ events? :flame:

think thats an easy one Leftnut looks like the bj one will have a lot less entrees then the poker one, so really you answered it youself, the 100tp sat is the easy way into it, the freeroll a battle lol, With over 800 in the poker already there is much likel better value for points in the Bj

Actually leftnut just realised how obvious the answer to your question is, Was going through games for tonight on Clububt and struck me why there was no freerolls to the BJ $5k. On the Poker there is Free Sat's to the $10k tournament and on the Blackjack there are freeroll sats to the $10k Barona Seat so in fact both are perfectly balanced, Surprised no one else thought of this b4 me as was kind of obvious

Well, Mace, it's not quite that obvious to me. Sure, the BJ players have a shot at the Barona TOC seat with the guaranteed $1M first prize. A terribly longshot chance at one lone prize (the seat), and the online tourney for that event doesn't happen until the end of October. In my mind, it doesn't compare. For one thing, it'd be a little goofy to have a poker tournament for a seat on a TBJ televised final table. Many poker players can win many nice little chunks of cash before the one late October BJ event.

I can see that point of view but, to an EBJ player a 10k seat is a 10k seat, I will be entering Barona one way or other as will most good players here, Thus has a 10k value to me, I wonder though if i won the seat here, then went to Barona Last chance circuit event and won the final table so thus had another seat would i get 2 seats or $10k back :laugh:

Based on the way these UBT events have always handled this kind of situation, I'm confident that you would receive the extra $10K in cash at Barona if you already had a TOC seat.

I know most of the regular EBJ players i have spoken to hope to attend, Guess if going for the circuit they may just go to sightsee the Tournament of Champs.
Would be nice if they done a 2 level Entry Sat like they done at the Venetian, this worked as round 1, 2 tables 6 on each 3 from each go through to final table where 2 got entry to $1500 buy in, or cash back if already paid, Entry to this was around $260 and all tables filled. So the same with maybe $1600 buy in would work. Could easily be done in evenings after circuit event.
Was also a shame last Barona that they did not have Sit N Go's in the evening as seemed a waste of so may UBT Tables but guess they hope pllayers will hit the cash tables, which with such good BJ action i did not argue with .
Can also confirm as you thought Ken, Although my point about winning 2 entrys was slighly in jest, Joe did answer this at LVA to confirm you/I/ anyone would get the $10k entry back in cash, only question is shall i spend it now or after :laugh:

Seems like a good idea especially after Ventian will Chuck idea over to Joe and maybe he can make some noises in right direction, Turbo Sit N Go's would be great as well really enyoyed playing these at Venetian on my Trip to Vegas in June, and makes good warm up for full blown Tournaments. Also think that entrys into the last chance circuit event (guessing same as last time aound $260) 2 days before the T.O.C event could be given away on Clububt as prizes.

Just realised i really am talking rubbish(probably not for the first time) the BJ freeroll is of course not just for a $10k seat at T.O.C but for an all expenses paid seat at final table, Now With Guranteed 1st place of $1m and est of prize money floating around at between $2m- $5m then a seat at final table has a value of total prize money on final table divided 7+ airfare+ accomadation value included so would guess this freeroll prize is worth over $200k so blows the Poker freeroll prize to pieces

I understand your math, although I have no idea where you got the $2M to $5M figures from. I simply don't agree with the logic. It's a one-shot deal for only one player. Everyone else gets diddly-squat. And the only guarantee at Barona is the top prize - everything else is based on the entry count. 100 entries @ $10K each isn't even enough to cover the top prize after taking out the vig.

I know there was talk at last event of increasing comped Barona Players to around 200 for the T.O.C but also heard about an estiimated prize pool of above when i was at Venetian. Guess only time will tell

Is Barona really considering "inviting" their players to the Tournament of Champions? Wouldn't that dilute the term "champion"? If this is the case, any serious thought I've been giving to shelling out $10,000 plus expenses to play in this event, will simply disappear.

Imagine this scenario:
Interviewer:We're interviewing the blackjack champion of the world, Mr. X. Mr. X, what was your strategy and how did you demonstrate your blackjack skill?

Mr. X: Well, in all four rounds, on the very first hand, I bet it all. I mean those other novice players were betting 500 and 1000. Fools. I bet all 25000 and won all those hands. Those suckers never had a chance. After that, I just kept betting 500 on each hand. Oh, and in the finals, I saw players splitting 10s, doubling on 12s, surrendering, and doing some crazy stuff. This was a piece of cake for me.

Interviewer: There you have it. Simply go all in on your first hand, stick to minimum bets after that, and always play basic strategy. That's the key to becoming a blackjack "champion."

Ted, while I understand your complaints, comped players are an absolute requirement for this event to succeed. If the prize pool were composed of only those seats that were won or paid for, there's no chance that it could pay $1 million for first place. Still, I agree that Tournament of Champions would ideally mean something else.

If they dont invite 100 you have a very good possibility that only first place will be paid as required is 103 players to make the million target. Its up to Baron management to maximize their minimum investment of 1 million dollars.

Well, then, count me out from even considering the TOC. When UBT and the TOC were first announced and created, the plans were to have monthly events around the world, with the winner of each event getting a free entry into the TOC. That would have provided at least 12 players who had to play live events and advance through multiple rounds and win their final table. In my mind, these players were already champions, and it would make sense that the winner of an event with all these players, would truly be the real champion. Throw in a few brave souls who either through having $10,000 available, or realizing through their play at other tournaments (online or in casinos) that $10,000 was worth the risk while playing against a small pool of others, and you'd really have a "Tournament of Champions."

But when the possibility is huge that someone who never played a hand of EBJ, and didn't have to risk a dime, will be crowned "Champion of EBJ," that says a lot about the quality (or lack of same) of the title.

I'm sure those players, like Monica Reeves, who had to battle 100 other players in a sanctioned EBJ tournament, would love to be in a TOC with other "true" champs and play against 50 - 100 players. But with 300 players, her chances have just been diminished tremendously.

Overall, it seems like all the "good" things that were planned for EBJ, UBT, etc...have either disappeared or gone down hill. Maybe it was the timing, the new Internet gambling law, or simply the lack of good marketing and publicity. My hope is that for the players who have devoted much time to, and shared ideas about, EBJ these past 12 months, will be rewarded at some point in the future -- maybe beginning with next year's ClubUBT cruises. It certainly won't happen at Barona, the Venetian, the Palms, in Atlantic City, Aruba, or at a casino near you anytime soon.

Monica Reeves shouldnt mind...she has not paid one dime to play any EBJ event yet. She may have had to win many levels to get a final table win ...but when you have numerous free shots to do that then the term Champion is equally diminished.

If its a true game of skill then one should be able to maintain a huge advantage to the novice freerollers.

UBT had some great ideas and a great game...it will be a rotten shame if its not a success eventially...Poker wasnt an overnight success ...no one should expect EBJ or the UBT to be an overnight success either.

Comp players are fine...

As long as the casino is putting up the prize money up front or at least covering the comp-ed players fees I have no problem with them.

Now I do have an issue with comp-ed players getting ranked in tournaments, I don't feel that is fair. Not having to dig into their own pockets gives them a hugh advantage, not counting the fact they get to play in more events then the normal paying players.

I have pleaded with several casinos to open up their VIP events and allow players not invited a chance to pay $300 to $500 entry fee for the chance to not only play in these tournaments, but to add the extra entries into the prize pool to make an even bigger event. And thats not counting re-buys.

As a business man why not allow more players into your casino (maybe have a clause that they can play if they stay there). Now you have done nothing more but given yourself a chance to make more money whether they give the casino any side action or not.

And if your like me, you'll play side action just to get your rooms comp-ed...LOL.

More FreeRollers that Barona throw in the better, Barona pay their full entry for them which if what they say is true will make prize pool $3m.
I've played these people at Barona last time and Most don't even have basic stratagy skills let alone tournament ones,

Hey I'm not saying it's impossible for one to make final, But would you prefer a mixture of these and Pro's in first few rounds or Just Pro's ?

If all where equal going into this then if say there were 100 entrys no freerollers then you have a 1/100chance of getting paid (unless your the Clububt internet winner who goes straight to final table) With 300 entrys 200 of them having no skill and playing there own way with negative ev that only super ploppies can create your odds of getting paid goto around 1/5.

Although I have no idea what the break down would be on that besides the $1m to winner am sure they will do similar to last event where round 4 winners get paid, this would not happen without the added money as had already been said then there would only be a 1st place prize and nothing much else,
