Good news is Stacks made the top two from the AOL qualifier for the WSOB, so he is now in.

The bad is with all the players that were trying to make it in the WSOB 2006 two of the AOL winners didn't show up for today's qualifying tournament. I'm sure that news will make everybody that were trying to get on the show feel good!

Additional information from WSOB is the players and alternates received the new rules for the WSOB. Rules will not be released until the shows are aired sometime in June.

Filming starts tomorrow and everybody is getting excited, by Satuarday night one of the 40 players will be over $500,000 dollars richer.

Rumor mill has it that if this years show is a Big success that GSN may even host another WSOB by the end of the year.

Not gamblers, I guess

Maxwell you have to remember that the AOL drawings were for everyone, not just AOL members. Their were hundreds of thousands of entries for this event and it was unfortunate that a couple of the winners didn't show up.

I can only assume that the winners were unable to get off work or had personal reasons for not attending the tournament. Not everybody is willing or able to drop everything and jet off to Las Vegas at a drop of the hat.

It is a shame that anyone not willing to go would even fill out an entry form and cost others a chance of winning.

The late notice may have been a factor as well.

Watch the WSOB and spread the word.

The best way to assure GSN will be hosting another WSOB event is to not only watch the show, but tell your friends about it as well.

The better the show does the more likely GSN will host another one. Remember another show means another chance for all of us to win $500,000 or more in prize money.

I take that to mean Stacks prevailed with two advancing in a field of six. :1st: :2nd:

I'm curoious...what was the format; did they end up playing one table for the 2 seats, or what?

Yes, they played one table of six, with two players advancing to the WSOB.

By the way, the response to the AOL sweepstakes was huge, with over 300,000 people entering!

why no alternatives

One possible reason aol didn't have alternatives for the the blackjack tournament was the 2 no shows took the trip and $1,000 meal allowance and chose not to participate in the tournament. aol wouldn't have known til it was too late and they still had to pay for the trips (and they were only obligated for 8) for the 2 no shows. With over 300,000 entries I would imagine (unfortunately) many were not blackjack players and didn't want to be on television. :(

I hope...

GSN have learned a cgreat deal about how to market and bring in players for the WSOB. I know WSOB III is going to be great, but it could have been better!

Hail to WSOB IV and of course to NON-FRICKEN ACCUMULATION QUALIFIERS!

WSOB and AOL Tournament

Thanks everyone for the support before and durring the WSOB. I just got back home to Florida and I didnt get a chance to log-in while in Vegas - there was so little time. It is hard to imagine all the work and time it takes to run a production like the WSOB.

The AOL tournement went great and I'm allowed to say that It went well enough to qualify me for the WSOB. Both tournaments were run well and we all had a blast. The folks from AOL, GSN, the Hilton, and the production crews did a great job. :D

The shows will be exciting to say the least, and I cant wait for them to air in June. Thanks again everyone for the congrats on qualifying and for the support!
