World Series of Blackjack III, Semifinal #1

This week's show (August 14th) is the first of two semi-final rounds. Of the 5 competitors at the table, 2 will advance to the final round, and a chance at the serious cash. First place is still more valuable than second, because the winner gets $25,000.

Semifinal #1 features these players:
Paul Haas, Henry Tran, Pat Nicholas, Jeff Bernstein, John Payne

Since this thread was late in appearing, there was already a discussion going on about the final hand.

I finally got around to watching this show. I thought it was pretty exciting, even though the betting strategies left a lot to be desired. John Payne is absolutely fearless when it comes to pushing money in the circle.

During the World Series, Rock'n'Roll Darrell and I were in the green room during his rounds, cheering on our fellow Mississippian. Darrell does a pretty good impression of John Payne pushing out those max bets: "Fitty thousan'."

Ps. Do you know whether GSN is going to offer the shows as downloads? The gambling channels in the UK have gone through a bit of rationalisation recently and the poker channel which had shown previous WSOB is now All-In Sport and it seems to mostly show extreme Bass fishing.
