If this was a one week qualifying, then the results are about what they should be. In general, for a one week event a person should be busting out or have enough to be in what they believe would be enough to be in the top 168.

Looking at the Wong number, assuming there were 260 players, then the goal should be approximately 1866 for one time. However, from last year, I know that some of the people don't buy the extra chips. Some people don't show up for what ever reason. How many people actually played last week?

We also know that, as you say, many people have no idea how to play this type of accumulation. There are some of the people that will have 2500 and try to win the table with a big bet on the last hand.

I guess my point is that I assume most of the players in this tournament have played this particular format previously. Based on that, one would think the majority of players would know the strategy to make it to the second and subsequent rounds. Also, I spoke to one of the players not buying extra chips. Unless your buy-in is comped, why would you do that? I guess if you're a local it works. However, I'm not playing 25 hours to qualify and making a 260 mile round trip for one spin of the "Wheel of Fortune." Just sayin.

Monday night play was the same. No shows, players busting out, and the ones that won last week did it again. It might take less than last year to advance.

  6. Ft. Sill Apache $250K BJT

It looks like enough players wised up for the second session to bring the cutoff up higher than last year (1,825). Or more were luckier than last year. Now the real tournament begins.

I play Tuesday at 8:15. Good luck to everyone. If you have time, I posted pictures of my '66 Chevy truck on my member profile. It took five years of hard labor and a copious amount of $$$ to restore. I need to win the $100K to get out of the financial hole.

The start of the final table. Leader 71000 down to 35000. The Jamaican (who didn't qualify with hours) was mainly the only one who went for it. He started second with 68000. Went down to 17000. Then started to win. He caught up to the leader 97000. On the 28th hand, everybody put out medium bets (4-5000) he bet 16600. Got a BJ. 29th hand, no one tried to catch him, he bet 5900 got another BJ. Last hand excitement. 7th place only had 425 all in. Only one person tried to catch him with a 88000 bet held back 2000. 50000 all in. 60000 bet 30000. 60000 something wasn't memorable. 78000 just 7000. Leader small. Only the 30000 and 7000 won. The winner gave the bar $1000 to give anybody a drink. Ken the general manager got an ear full from so many people. He didn't even stay to the end.

Why was the general manager getting an earful?

    Messaged you.

  19. Ear Full?

Probably had to do with the casino allowing players without the required 25 hours of table play enter the tournament. I know one tournament player that lost over $1,600 getting his 25 hours to qualify and wasn't happy to learn about the freebies. Just a guess.
