I was considering entering the July 29 Niagara Fallsview Casino tournament but I have not yet spoken with a casino host. However, a player services rep said a room (@ $289CD/night) was not included in the $250CD entry fee. Unusual when compared to Las Vegas, Tahoe and Biloxi. She also couldn't tell me what level of casino play would be required to comp either or both costs, if at all. I have good news and bad news ....

The good news is that two members of this site made it into the money at this event. They were dalexy2kbj and yours truly.

The bad news is that we were both stopped just short of the championship table which was a 3 player table with prizes of $30,000, $10,000 and $6,000. In my case, a hard lesson was learned which I will elaborate on in another post.

Just a reminder that this tourney is coming up shortly. They've increased the prize pool to $45,000 (was $41,750) and those eliminated in the semi final (2nd round) now get paid $100 each (was $0).

Interesting situation (and very exciting) appeared during semi-final (one could advance)good illustration for tournament strategy 2 players left at the table, last hand(other five were busted two hands ago – nice situation, ha ?) I am an avid BJ player, but this will be my first BJ tournament!

Masters of Blackjack - Qualifying Round.
Location: Fallsview Casino, Niagara Falls.
Buy-In: $250
Date: Oct 29th, 2008.

Let talk about it, while fresh. Nice tournament, but I like straight BJ better. Get to semifinal only because played last hand opposite Wong's ex.44 being BR1 bet min in the crowd, even though knew the right move, but feel differently(good point for discussion, what is better: play right and looose, or play in according to intuition and win ?). I played in this tournament (came in 2nd!) and thought I would report on the experience. Overall, I found the tournament to be very well organized.

The good:
- The tournament was held in a room separate from the casino. Nice and
quiet with a good atmosphere (light music playing, a fireplace, tables and
refreshments provided for the players waiting).
- Friendly staff and dealers.
- Each session was on time (to the minute) with plenty of slack just in case
- Free breakfast for 2...
