BTW...I stand by my opinion ...and what I saw...Archie did not lose that game....a bug in this game kept him from winning! I dont give a crap if Russ gets the seat or Archie...I just want the game fixed so its fair to everyone...

CS sent me the history of hand 29, including the chat, and I could read with my own eyes that Russ bet first. So if he bet first on the 29th hand, I had to be on the button on hand 30.

Following, is my final communication with CS after posting my apology :

"I had the audio off, so the chat did not bother me. The fact is I was too
tired on my first three days gaming online.I played more than 20 games on
the long weekend (freerolls, SnG's and other tournaments) + a golf game in
the middle. Being a senior, it was probably too much in the end. So I
conclude that, while full of tournament excitement and adrenalin, I was too
tired to focus properly.

I'm still seeing Russ's spot flashing in my mind. So I must have been
hallucinating. My eyes were glued on this spot and his hard 14 waiting to
cover his bet and believing that he and not me, was on the button.. I did'nt
watch anything else on the screen untill the message absent flashed.

The detailed history of hand 29 (not hand 30) was the clinching proof that I
was wrong (Russ betting first). I remember that after going ahead on hand 29
I told my wife that the win was almost in the bag because I had position on
hand 30, he had no secret bet and I had only to cover whatever bet he made.
So I was confused before hand 30 began.and more so after the cards appeared
on hand 30. Based on my thinking at the time, I was now a 100 % sure of
winning and going to St.Kits in two weeks. In the 45 seconds I wrongly
focused on his spot waiting for him to bet, I let the time elapsed. It's my
mistake and a classic case of "Dont count your chickens before they're
hatched".

There is no problem in my mind now with the software, propriety or fairness
of the game on Bet21. If Customer Support had'nt taken my complaint so
seriously and dealt with me calmly, politely and professionally I would
still feel totally wronged today, the same way I expressed myself in the
complaint.

Eimination Blackjack is not gambling. I'ts a sporting event were you pay an
entry fee to win a preestablished prize.Professionnaly run like you,
Customer Support showed me, it's a business that I now feel I can trust.

Thank you again for clearing my mind of this frustration. Losing is no
problem. Fairness in the result is.

And the result, I conclude, was fair."

I find your concerns about a bug very interesting a day later, but for me the matter is now settled, even if I was victim of the bug your talking about. If there is one, I'm convinced that it's unintentional and they are probably secretly investigating such a possibility from their end.

Why am I convinced it's unintentional, will you say? Well here is my view of all this. Why would Russ Hamilton, the owner, put his baby in jeopardy for, as you say, a little "picnic" in St. Kitts. He's going anyway and surely doesn't need the money.

Nonetheless, here are the two points I can connect with in your "bug story" :

1 - Russ being on the button : I still see his spot flashing in my mind, not mine. So all my focus was on him.

2 - You say Russ still had a secret bet. Unless I'm still hallucinating, I now remember telling my wife, while waiting for him to bet, that I still had a secret bet (envelope showing) and he had used up his (no envelope showing). With a hard 14 showing and last position, so I thought at the time, their was no way I could miss.

You say, and I quote, "On the last hand... Russ was on the button....I joked in chat that Russ will bet 100,000 which he did I believe...(it was secret bet) HD gave a lol at that one..."

Well, from my recollection of events, I can't agree on that one from what I remember of the hand. On my screen, Russ's spot was flashing, so my mind still tells me, and he had no secret bet

I can relate to your frustration Rando, but I don't need the aggravation and, I repeat, for me the matter is settled and, personally, I don't expect that the situation will occur again. The lesson learned for me is the following : I was already dead tired before the tournament started and my focus was not a 100%. This is obvious to me now. Next time I play in a game of importance, I'll be sure to come in well rested and totally focussed.

 

I told Rando that for me the matter is settled, bug or no bug. I don't need the aggravation.

As I intend to be well rested and focussed in important events from now, I don't expect any more hallucinating problems. If so, I'll let CS deal with it. The hand history is proof enough for me, unless proven otherwise.

What really "bugs" me though is what will happen to Bet21 if Bush signs the bill about prohibiting the transfer of money between financial institutions and gaming sites.

Personally, I don't consider Bet21 a gambling site, buf if I can't convince my wife, my sister and my friends about this fact, how can Bush be convinced.

When I posted, I was pretty sure you were on the button on the last hand. I am glad you got a report to straighten everything out.

Still even with the time-out or disconnect, had Russ lost that hand you would have been the winner.

It was a good game, I hated to see anyone lose on a "What if situation".

I don't want to get involved in this feud you have with Joep more than I have to, but I'll send you privately the content of my first e-mail to him (crossing out personal info) confirming that I contacted him and not the other way around. Where he is also factually right his about me going on the show after my win ($50,000) in Montreal June 5.

Ken Einiger's book and Ken Smith's site were also a wealth of free and very useful info going into my first tournament in April. Back then, before I even knew about the world of BJ Tournaments online, I was looking for strategy info in preparation for my first tournament. The first site that showed up on Google was BlackJackTournament.com. I went in and I could not believe my eyes : a totally trustworthy site, nobody trying to separate me from my money and all the useful info I wanted. I immediateley bought two books (Wong and Ken E.) to add to this info and immediately subscribed to BJ Insider.

I played 5 regular land-based casino major tournaments since then. My results so far are the following : busted out in qualifiications three times and made two finals, one first place and one second ($9,000).

On my big win of $50,000, I know for a fact that I would not have qualified for the semis without heeding the advice of Ken Smith (fix yourself a target,bet the max or bust until you reach it, then bet the minimum the rest of the way). Qualifying first had no more value than qualifying 42nd in these qualifications. Betting the minimum on the second round of qualifications actually saved me from elimination, because it was a dealer's shoe (I managed to loose $225 in 21 hands final flatbetting the minimum and qualified on the bordeline, only $400 ahead of the last qualifying spot.

Before getting in my first semi (one winner per table) I used the 30 minutes break I had to quickly go over Ken Einiger's advice in Chapter 12. The point that stood out for me the most was this : Be there at the end. I was and had a chance to win. Luck was on my side and I won.

After all this good advice, it would really be unwarranted for me, don't you think, not to trust Ken E., Ken S. an Joe P. now.

As for the possibilty you raise about a bug, it doesn't scare me if it exist because I'm confident they will find it. I work for a big organization and every new software coming out needs to be debugged a little or more in the first few months of usage. If I'm correct, Bet21 has been online for less than a month and I already seen them do a few updates so far on my computer So they are working on improving it. Also, I personally think that while trying their best to improve the site (it's already pretty good as far as I'm concerned after spending three straight days on it), we should recognize that their main focus right now should be finding a solution to the bill that is threatening this great game and the whole industry.

I can see your point Rando and you are very articulate in expressing your legitimate concerns about the possibility of a bug. Right now, if it exists, they obviously can't see it from their end, but I'm confident they will eventually fix it without us even knowing about it.

Wish you the best Rando and I respect your decision to wait before jumping right in again. Personally, I'll be going back as soon as I can find the time.

Trusting them, in my mind, is the way to go and still a great gamble

In the 20 or so games I played that weekend, this is the one were the level of play was consistently higher from beginning to end. This is the kind of competition that will make anybody willing to improve, better. Now that the controversy is over, that's the way I feel .

 

Your observation about the button confirms the hand history I got from CS. I'm really glad that the controversy is over with. The matter was settled to my satisfaction.

 

I don't know. Not being technical, I would ask this question about the disconnect issue : Can we be disconnected and still see the plays on the screen and be able to act in one fashion or another?

 

I only saw the chat going on at the very end (Is there audio or is it only a written scrip). Either way, I played the game in silence, staye and stayed in my bubble all the way.The chat did not bother me or influence me. As for the coaching aspect that might be an issue, I have no opinion other than this : the final decision belongs to the player and whatever coaching is done would surely not spell victory. Luck has still the greatest part to play , even if luck alone is not enough to consistently advance.

 

Right on, bring them on. I look forward to that.
