Sault Call Out

If you flew into Green Bay you'd have a 300 mile scenic drive along the northern shore of lake Michigan to Sault St. Marie.
I believe there's a fair sized airport at either Petoskey or Cheboygan, MI and your drive from either would only be about 75 or 85 miles.
Would be nice to see the Seattle "posse" in the "great northwoods". Besides the bear, deer and wolves be on the lookout for a "creeping" panther!!!!!

There are two more events this year, they are both at St. Ignace (Kewadin Casino). The first one is August 20-22, the other is October 1-3. This is the first year they have had a 30k blackjack tourney at Saulte Saint Marie. Let's hope it's a success and they have more tournaments in the future. With the extra tourney this year, we are fortunate to have have three Kewadin tourney's in the span of 15 weeks. Great value!

 

I think this is the first one ever at the Sault location and don't know what future plans they have.
Kewadin has 5 casinos in the UP and the "bigger" BJ tourneys have always been at their St. Ignace location. Next two there will be in August and October, I believe (no snow in August) but it's possible in October (unlikely).

Mackinaw County International airport, straight flight from Detroit, as well as other areas.

That is unavoidable due to my covering other's vacation time. They cover for me plenty when I'm off to BJT's, I'm not going to say no to them now.

Quick reminder to all

I mentioned this before the last Ignace event and want to say it again.

Road construction season has started here. Orange barrels are everywhere. Michigan cops just love to hide in these zones and pick off drivers going any speed over the posted construction zone limit. Be careful out there!!!

 

That was in Oklahoma, not Michigan! The wiring runs through the trunk of my car, and turned out there was a broken connection.
It's all fixed up even better than new, thanks to my Trunk Monkey! :laugh:

 

Expected Tournament Breakdown?

Hi,

I know that this will be the first tournament for Kewadin at the Sault, but I understand that they will be running it using the format used at St Ignace and hope to have a similar turn out.

With that in mind, can someone post the typical breakdown of the St Ignace tourney? i.e.

P players registered = T tables of X players with Y advancing to the semis
R rebuys = T tables of X players with Y advancing to the semis
Semi Final = T tables of X players with Y advancing to the final table
Final Table = X players

Any information about previous tournaments at St Ignace would be appreciated!

 

All tables are two advance except semifinals (1 advance), first round can have 4, 5, or 6 players per table depending on entries. # of players per table in rebuy similar to first round. Only final table of 7 players will cash.

109 entrants, I believe (down from the usual amount of about 150). Supposedly,
this was by design because of room shortages. I don't know the rebuy number.

This should be a VERY entertaining weekend being the first 4d tourney at this locale as well as probably the best VP in the World and good DD and great 6d BJ. Saturday will also be the Tesla concert and any one getting a ticket gets double points for 24 hours.

There is also 2 night clubs and bars in the casino that draws many Canadians as well as us Yanks.

After the tournament banquet and reception Friday the 25th, 5-7 PM, there will be a private get together in the Mackinaw Hospitality Suite on the second floor right near the escalators. This get together is for the members of both of Kens sites that will be attending this tournament.

You can greet and meet highly skilled and well known players from the tourney world and the real money world, again from Kens sites,,,BJinfo and BJ Tourneys.

All in all this should be one great weekend!
