    2nd round and beyond?

    BJMAILMAN:

I'm just about there. One more question (actually two) - I think.

When playing the quarterly, let's say you are one of the 2 table winners in the first round:

Do you carry your chips to the second round or does everyone start out equal?

What about the 3rd and 4th round - carry forward or start equal?

You carryover the chips from each round. In the $1 mil tournament the first round is accumulation. Then, you carryover your total for your two days and every round after. I know you guys don't like this, but there is no changing it. The casinos what to reward their regular players. I have tried so many times to at least limit the amount of chips earned.

Thanks BJMAILMAN for all the info. I know I was a little bit of a pain but I wanted details so that if I do go there then I know what to expect.

Their format leaves something to be desired. However, when you consider the cost of playing and the fact that there seems to be a lot, make that a whole lot, of ploppies it may be worth the trip.

As for you trying to get them to change the format, I've tried making suggestions to tournament directors on numerous occasions. Not once have they accepted any suggestion. The closest I came was "That's a good idea but this is how we play". Go figure. I'm at the point where I don't say anything. It only gets them irritated and then, on occasion, they have it in for me. You're just "a wise guy" becomes their attitude.

Again, thanks for your help. :)

I know what you mean about irritating pit bosses. I back up everything I tell them with logic, but that doesn't get threw to them. I know the watch dogs of the $1mil at CN were very irritated at rule violators to the point of calling security and getting a little crazy. Two people at my table got jumped for playing with their chips, but they were placing bets and when I said "How can you place a bet without touching them" it looked like she was going to take my head off. I guess also the staff was stressed with so many questions from people. It's usually very friendly.

For the $1mil tournament first place $400000 went to a little young girl. She is a regular at Comanche Nation. In a casino commercial it showes her doing alittle dance after winning. So would I. Well there's next year.

Found another way to earn quarterly points at Red River, besides Tuesday tournaments. On the Ultimate Texas Holdem table, if you get pocket pairs you get 1 point and fullhouses and above earn 3 points. You also still earn 1 point per hour of play, like the BJ tables. Tried it myself for an hour got a couple pairs, so my hour got me 3 points. Another guy at the table got 3 pairs and 2 fullhouses for 10 points.

Red River quarterly. Sign up Jan 1-16. Tournament Jan 21-22. Was told 1st place is only $20000. I guess some people are really winning some money. The prize pool used to be over $200000 every quarter until they opened the Craps table. To fund the $1 mil tournament the two casinos take out around $1400 a day out of the players pool. The $1mil tournament is on for Dec 2007 and the talk is also for 2008. The semi finals and final table will be played at Comanche Nation this time and back to Red River for 2008.

Todays tournament at Comanche Nation. 218 players. Prize pool $164000. $62000 first place the rest down to 24th place. 1st round 70 advance plus 14 wildcards. 2nd round 14 advance 10 wildcards. 3rd round 4 advance to final table plus 2 wildcards. I couldn't get past the second round. The dealers were hard on many as usual. On the 21st I'll give the Red River tournament a try. At least my name is in the pot for the 2007 $1mil tournament.

The next quarterlies: Comanche Nation Apr 8 and Red River Apr 22-23. Make your points til Mar 31. Players pool at CN as of Jan 30 $68000. Freeroll for points still at CN on Tuesdays. RR still has its Tuesday tournament and you can earn points and money in this one.

The next quarterly at Comanche Nation and Red River are coming up. Sign up at CN Mar 17-31. Players pool so far $219601. Sign up RR Apr 1- 14 ? Players pool $110000. Newcastle casino is having some sort of $100000 Blackjack giveaway. They usually don't have tournaments just give it away to the players every month. Oklahoma is a hot spot for blackjack tournaments with some good prize pools. I know it favors the regular players in most places, but a chance is still a chance and better than no chance. And remember the quarterlies at CN and RR get you in the drawing for the $1mil tournament. Last year they took everybody and didn't have a drawing (600+).

Cherokee-Tulsa: Scotty Nguyen Blackjack Challenge II

I'm pleased to see the current advertising on this site for the upcoming:
    Cherokee Casino - Tulsa
    Scotty Nguyen Blackjack Challenge II
    May 20 - May 27

If the Cherokee Casino banner ad's still on the main page for this site, use that (I assume this site is getting ad and/or click revenue from it). Otherwise it's cherokeecasino.com.

Just got done with the Comanche Nation quarterly. Cannot get any luck. My son did well thou for his first try. Prize pool was $217000. 289 entries. One change in the tournament was one advance instead of two from the first round. But, they increased the wildcards to 48. The prize pool as of 4-14 was $65000. The prize pool for the next quarterly is probably going to be another big one.

    OK Blackjack and $1 mil

The quarterly prize pool at Comanche Nation as of 5-16 $166000. That's only half a quarters worth. It might get close to $300000 this time for the July 8 quarterly. Entries here for the quarterlies run around or over 300. Remember these quarterlies are connected to the $1mil tournament in Dec. The next one at Red River is July 22-23. The new Kiowa casino by Red River is openning on May 23. I hope you all have a great time in Tulsa. I would love to go, but I'm still a working stiff. My wife and I would of had fun playing the Jack-n-Jill. Maybe some other time. Laughlin sounded like a lot of fun I missed out. Like FGK, I ain't retired or wealthy and I got a wife who wants to "spend time with me" or got things for me to do. There's always the Powerball.

    tulsa cherokee ante blackjack table

just near tulsa -catoosa oklahoma - yesterday 5-24-07 -cherokee casino - went there to play all the tournaments and i got the facts.

there are blackjack tables, roulette layouts, and a craps table unlike any tables you have ever seen before. the dice are similated with cards and the odds are the worst i have ever seen. the roulette(doulbe zero) wheel has no wheel and cards are used to determine the number. and i saved the last for the best.

you have to pay an ante of 50 cents to play a single hand of blackjack at the blackjack table. and you also make you bet - limits are 5-150. but i still saved the best for last. the ante is NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the outcome of the hand! now you may wonder who is responsible for this little rule - the dealers say it is the state of oklahoma - but also consider that the house hits soft-17's. my wife and i got the card and five dollar bonus and left the casino a winner and oklahoma as fast as we could. however a good bj player should be able to clean up in the tournaments if the locals are dumb enought to pay the ante!

    Clarification about the ante

Won't debate the desirability of table games at the Cherokee Casino - use your own judgment. However, the last statement about ante in the tournament is incorrect. Tournaments at Cherokee do not have antes - in fact, in most tournaments, tournaments actually have overlays by the casino. Antes at Cherokee are all the Casino can keep - all wins at table games are used for other purposes, such as giveaways, and, yes, even tournament overlays.

    ante in oklahoma

that's is an incorrect statement as well. i never mentioned that there was an ante in the tournament in oklahoma. my response to "table games in oklahoma" did not mention the tournament rules. i stated that the table games in cerokee casino are the worst odds i have ever seen on the diceless craps table, the wheeless roulette table, and the ante at the blackjack table. i would not wager one penny on any table game in the cerokee casino as i view it as a the biggest rip off casino i have ever been in.

however the tournaments and the poker room are the only pluses that the casino has. however my wife and i do like to play blackjack and table games while we are not participating in tournaments, and we left oklahoma because the only positive in the oklahoma casino was the tournament. however we did not feel like hanging around six days to only play in the tournaments. i also stated that a good blackjack player would probably do well in the oklahoma tournament as the locals are fool enough to pay the ante and they have been doing it for some time.

i did not ask about all the rules (not tournament) at the bj tables as i already knew the answer as the cerokee nation has all the worst rules which apply to all table games. a person would be foolish to play anything in the casino with the exception of the blackjack tournament. And that only lasts about 3 hours a day leaving nothing to do but wait until the next tournament begins.

also i would advise all people to boycott the casino totally as any participation in the casino other than the tournaments are the same as giving a dope head more dope, a drunk more alcohol, and is the only casino in my world that is comparable to playing the state lotteries. such a casino with all the bad odds should not be allowed to exists, even if they do have blackjack tournaments and a poker room.

rip off in catoosa oklahoma and tunica

and we don't play golf or will we ever go back to oklahoma for anything. fortunately oklahoma sucks and that keeps texas from falling into the gulf of mexico. and there won't be casinos in texas either as the lawmakers are afraid of the doom and gloom the baptist forecasts of crime, corruption, and prostitution as if the mob or the casinos need to be illegal to rip one off. we also stopped in tunica to see what's up and i can state that soft-17's are the rule of the day. they invented new craps tables that only have bets for the right bettor. forget the don't comes, the don't passes, and lay bets - on the table i saw that was not an option. and i don't know what to think of the new blackjack tables as you can also play 3 card poker on the same table as you play blackjack at the same time. it seems a bit strange to play blackjack while the player next to you is playing 3 card poker at the same time. must deal the poker hands face down so there goes the card counter or you have to be very fast at counting even if you get to see all the poker cards. i think i will stay away from that one too. we ended up in georgia and finally made a right move- we bought some georgia peaches.
